Bopapodamuses are a tree-climbing hippopotamus-like species that appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D. They only appear in the Forest world where a total of fourteen can be seen across two levels. There are six of them in Tippin' Totems and eight of them in Springy Spores.
Bopapodami are hippo-like "enemies" that appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns. They only appear in the Forest area of the game in very few levels. They always seem to have a happy expression on their face. They are minor obstacles that the Kongs must jump on in order to get through gaps the Kongs can't jump across. But they have to be careful, since they can only jump on the Bopapodamus a certain amount of times until it faints and falls into the abyss, killing the Kongs along with it. If the Kongs do not make direct contact with the Bopapodami's head, it will simply swat away one of the Kongs, causing them to lose a life.

During the levels, the Kongs must jump on the Bopapodamuses to get across large gaps. The Kongs can only jump on a Bopapodamus four times, after that it falls into the abyss, leaving the Kongs vulnerable to also falling down. If the Kongs do not jump directly on a Bopapodamus's head, it swats them down into the pit, causing them to lose a life.
Trivia
left
* While the Bopapodamus s cosidered an enemy, it can also be seen as a kind of "Animal Buddy", as it helps the player jump over large gaps, plus it seems happy to help the Kongs out.
** However, it can hurt the player if he/she jumps below its head.
* It is unknown whether the Bopapodamus was one of the animals the Tiki Tak Tribe hypnotised or not. It does seem that way, though.

Trivia
*Bopapodamuses were planned to reappear in Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze but never made it in the final game. According to concept art they were supposed to float on water surfaces instead of being on poles.
