Bomberman also appeared as a main character in the comic "Warios Weihnachtsmärchen" (a story based on Charles Dickens's A Christmas Carol), published in the German Club Nintendo magazine. In this story, he worked as a sales-clerk in Wario's bomb shop. When he asked his cold-hearted boss for getting days off during Christmas, Wario fired him, resulting in Bomberman not having enough money to buy Christmas presents for his friends. The Ghosts of Christmas, however, made Wario aware of his bad behavior, so in the end of the story he hired Bomberman again. He serves the same role as Bob Cratchit from the book this story is based around.
