| Bogmire is a portrait ghost in Luigi's Mansion and its remake. He is a shadowy purple ghost with a outstretched arms, a large mouth, and yellow eyes. Bogmire is the manifestation of the mansion's fear and despair; he does not speak (making him the only area boss without any dialogue) and does not have a heart for the Game Boy Horror to examine. His name is inexplicably a combination of the names of two types of swampland: "bog" and "mire." Bogmire's portrait number in the Gallery is 19. | | Bogmire, the Cemetery Shadow, is a purple portrait ghost of unknown age from the game Luigi's Mansion. The ghoul resided in the Graveyard of Luigi's Mansion during the events of the game. Bogmire is the manifestation of the mansion's fear and despair, although the powerful ghost itself does not know who to fear or what to despair. Bogmire can summon shadowy duplicates of himself. He can also teleport around an area with a flash of lightning. Bogmire was the boss of the second area of Luigi's Mansion. |

| Bogmire is the boss of Area Two. He is encountered in the Graveyard where Luigi can fight him after catching every Mr. Bones, resulting in the large headstone glowing. As Luigi approaches the headstone, lightning strikes as Bogmire emerges from the ground. After jumping back in horror, Luigi is sent to an unknown arena, where a large Black Bogmire comes out and approaches him, while several others also appear in the field. Bogmire teleports around the arena, with his shadow and lightning strikes relaying his presence. Bogmire does not attack, though the Black Bogmires do. Some time after the Black Bogmires spawn, Bogmire and his shadow vanish, and Bogmire spawns elsewhere. Using his Poltergust 3000, Luigi can change a Black Bogmire into a ball shape and then launch it at Bogmire. Upon being hit, Bogmire becomes vulnerable to the Poltergust 3000. Bogmire usually breaks free of the grasp after a few seconds. Once Bogmire is caught, Luigi returns to the Graveyard, where a large chest with the key to the Courtyard appears.
| | Luigi encountered the powerful Bogmire during his quest to save his brother Mario from King Boo. During Luigi's investigation of the Graveyard, the green-clad hero discovered three Skeleton Ghosts hiding in the tombstones. After dispatching them with the Poltergust 3000, the main headstone began to glow. As Luigi approached the stone, Bogmire revealed himself and transported Luigi to his cemetery lair. |

| | Once in the lair, Luigi and Bogmire began to battle. To attack the novice ghost hunter, Bogmire created shadowy clones of himself, ranging from miniature-sized ghosts to enormous duplicates. These shadowy spirits would then attack Luigi as Bogmire warped around the arena, avoiding the green-clad hero. Unfortunately, Luigi discovered he could not suck Bogmire up with the Poltergust 3000. To capture Bogmire, Luigi had to pull in one of Bogmire's shadow clones with the Poltergust. The ghost would then form into a shadowy ball at the end of Luigi's vacuum weapon. The plumber could then fire the shadow ball at Bogmire, surrounding the ghost in darkness and rendering him vulnerable. With the ghost's heart revealed, Luigi could finally use the Poltergust against Bogmire. However, as Luigi was pulling the powerful ghost in, the plumber also had to avoid the shadowy duplicates who converged on his position, hoping to free Bogmire and injure Luigi. To do that he first had to clear the arena by circling around it until the sinister shadows bunched up together while in pursuit and sucking them all. Eventually, after a hard battle, Luigi emerged the victor and captured Bogmire. Returning to the Graveyard, Luigi discovered the chest to the key to the Courtyard and the next leg of his journey began. |
