It serves as the replacement for the original [[Funky Barrel]] from the first ''[[Donkey Kong Country]].

In the former game's [[Donkey Kong Country 2 (Game Boy Advance)|remake]], the Biplane Barrel was replaced with the [[Gyrocopter]]. It is a special biplane-shaped [[barrel]] owned by [[Funky Kong]] that replaces the [[Jumbo Barrel]] from ''[[Donkey Kong Country]]'', since [[Diddy Kong]] or [[Dixie Kong]] can visit [[Funky's Flights II]] to use the Biplane Barrel to travel between any previously accessed [[world]]s (excluding the [[Lost World (Donkey Kong Country 2)|Lost World]], which is accessible through [[Klubba's Kiosk]] only). The Biplane Barrel moves the player characters around on the world map faster than when they are on foot. At first, using the Biplane Barrel costs two [[Banana Coin|Banana Bunch Coin]]s per world, though all consecutive uses within that world is free. The Funky's Flights II theme continues to play on the world map while the Kongs are using the Biplane Barrel.


In ''[[DK: Jungle Climber]]'', Funky owns a plane that largely resembles the Biplane Barrel, only referred to as '''Funky's airplane'''. [[Donkey Kong|Donkey]] and [[Diddy Kong]] use it travel to each world's smaller island, provided they have enough [[oil barrel]]s.
If [[Diddy Kong|Diddy]] or [[Dixie Kong]] pay a visit to one of the [[Funky's Flights II]] on [[Crocodile Isle]], Funky will let them ride around to another area of Crocodile Isle, provided that they've already been there, as the only other method of returning to the main Crocodile Isle map is by defeating a boss. This is done as a means to prevent level-skipping, but serves as a safe alternative to having to fight a boss.

The Biplane Barrel does not appear in the [[Game Boy Advance]] [[remake]] of the game. Instead, it is replaced by the [[Gyrocopter]].
In ''[[DK: Jungle Climber]]'', the plane that was used to travel to the game's various islands largely resembles the Biplane Barrel in appearance.
As with the Funky Barrel, it is unknown as to whether the Biplane Barrel is one-of-a-kind, or if multiples exist.
