'''Big Pokeys''' are larger varieties of [[Pokey]]s first appearing in ''[[Mario Kart: Double Dash!!]]''

In ''[[Mario Kart: Double Dash!!]]'', five Big Pokeys appear as obstacles alongside seven normal-sized Pokeys in [[GCN Dry Dry Desert|Dry Dry Desert]]. They are positioned in place and put their head on the ground at regular intervals, forming a hoop shape that the racer can drive through. They are replaced by five more normal-sized Pokeys in the ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'' rendition of the course.

 

In ''[[Mario Kart Wii]]'', a single Big Pokey appeared in [[Thwomp Desert]] exclusively in the tournaments of October 2008 and September 2009. The players had to battle the Pokey, which was located at the center of the course, using [[Bob-omb]]s to attack it; running into any part of the Pokey would stun players for several seconds, and as it got damaged, body segments would move around.

One appears on one of the [[Good Egg Galaxy#Tropic planets|tropic planets]] in the [[Good Egg Galaxy]], and the other appears on one of another [[Dusty Dune Galaxy#Pokey Planets|pair of planets]] in the [[Dusty Dune Galaxy]]. To defeat one, Mario or Luigi must spin a [[coconut]] into one to knock all of its segments down, and jump on its head to finish it off. Doing so will make a [[Launch Star]] appear.

In ''[[New Super Mario Bros. U]]'', Big Pokeys appear in [[Morton|Morton Koopa Jr.]]'s boss fight. Morton uses his [[hammer]] to knock the invulnerable Pokey segments at the player. Big Pokeys appear also in ''[[New Super Luigi U]]''.

In ''[[Yoshi's New Island]]'', a regular Pokey named [[Punkey the Pokey Prince|Punkey]] is transformed by [[Kamek]] into a giant-sized Pokey as a boss of [[World 5 (Yoshi's New Island)|World 5]].

In ''[[Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam]]'', Big Pokey appears as a boss in [[Doop Doop Dunes Grotto]] alongside [[Tower Power Pokey]]. In battle, it attacks by lying sideways and rolling forwards and backwards, an attack which can potentially damage Mario, Luigi, and [[Paper Mario (character)|Paper Mario]] based on how many segments the Big Pokey currently has. Destroying the Big Pokey's segments will deplete its range, although it can grow these segments back if Paper Tower Power Pokey has more. The only way to defeat Big Pokey is by attacking its head.
