| | Bean Fever is a condition endemic to the Beanbean Kingdom. It causes whoever has it to gradually turn into a bean in three days. Bean Fever can only be contracted by foreigners. It is caused by the consumption of unfamilar beanish food, one known food being the Invincishroom. Mario acquired this terrible disease while in Little Fungitown during Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, prompting Luigi to go on a solo mission to find the cure, which happens to be Crabbie Grass. |

| Bean Fever is a condition endemic to the Beanbean Kingdom, only encountered in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and its remake, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions. It causes whoever contracts it to gradually turn into a Bean over the course of three days, although it is not explicitly clarified if they turn into a Beanish Resident or a literal bean. Bean Fever can only be contracted by foreigners. A known cure to the disease is Crabbie Grass, which can be located in Guffawha Ruins. | |

| Mario acquires this disease while in Little Fungitown after consuming a strange mushroom (Invincishroom in the original, Poison Mushroom mistaken for an Invincibility Mushroom in the remake) won at the town's arcade. Since he fell ill after eating a mushroom that he should not have eaten, it is reminiscent of food poisoning. He is diagnosed by a doctor who informs Luigi of how to cure Mario. Scared at the prospect of venturing in Guffawha Ruins due to the rumors, Luigi gets himself hypnotized by Psycho Kamek (replaced by Dr. Toadley in the remake) into believing he is Mario so he gains bravery to retrieve the Crabbie Grass from Guffawha Ruins. Mario's bedridden Bean Fever state and Luigi's absence allows Cackletta (now revived as Bowletta after possessing Bowser) to abduct Princess Peach to restart her evil plans.

| In Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions, the disease reduces Mario's HP to 1 and his BP to 0. Once Mario is cured, his HP and BP are fully restored.
