In ''Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!'', Barbos is the boss of the sixth world, [[Razor Ridge]], where she is encountered in her own level, [[Barbos's Barrier]]. Since Barbos is underwater, [[Dixie Kong|Dixie]] and [[Kiddy Kong|Kiddy]] can only fight her after transforming into [[Enguarde]]. In the battle, Barbos first attacks by sending Lurchins after Enguarde, who can stab the Lurchins into the spiked balls protecting Barbos. Once the spiked balls are out of the way, Enguarde can stab into Barbos's soft body. After being hit, Barbos descends to a lower level and begins targeting Enguarde with [[missile shell]]s. Enguarde must also lure the missile shells into the spiked balls protecting Barbos. After getting rid of them, Enguarde can stab Barbos again. On the final and lowest floor, Barbos shoots spikes at Enguarde. After avoiding the spikes, Enguarde has to quickly go up to Barbos and stab her. After stabbing Barbos two more times, Barbos is defeated, and she releases a [[Bonus Coin (Donkey Kong franchise)|Bonus Coin]], or a [[bear coin]] in rematches.

In the [[Donkey Kong Country 3 (Game Boy Advance)|Game Boy Advance version]], Barbos and her domain were relocated to the end of [[Pacifica]], with [[Kroctopus]] taking over her position as the boss of Razor Ridge and the background of the level being blue instead of red. In this version, Enguarde only has to hit Barbos four times to defeat her, more specifically by stabbing her twice on the third and lowest floor.

In ''[[Donkey Kong Land III]]'', Barbos is the boss of the first world, [[Cape Codswallop]], where she is fought at [[Barbos Bastion]]. Like in ''Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble!'', the Kongs are forcefully transformed into Enguarde, who must launch three Lurchins into Barbos's face to defeat it. Each time Barbos is hit, it fires three Lurchin shells at Enguarde.
