| | Balloons, not to be confused with Baron von Zeppelins, are platforms that Yoshi can ride on in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. They only appear in one level, Don't Look Back!, where they come in different colors. Stepping on one of them causes it to stop its natural rising, and using them too long results in their disappearance. They make a small appearance as the same thing in Yoshi's Island DS, and appear in Windblown Wilderness and Superhard Acrobatics. In Super Princess Peach, they always come in red, and gain magenta cheeks. They appear in Giddy Sky, and never move. If Peach stands on them, they go down slowly. If Peach jumps off of one, it rises. To make use of them, Peach has to jump repeatedly and get off before they vanish. |

| ==History==
| |
| ===Donkey Kong Land===
| |
| Balloons in Donkey Kong Land appear in Construction Site Fight only, where they rise up and down, inflating and deflating in the process.
| |
| | |
| ===Yoshi's Island series===
| |
| Balloons in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and its reissue have smiling faces and appear in a variety of colors. They appear in Don't Look Back! and a bonus area in Beware The Spinning Logs, and they continuously rise from the bottom of the screen. Stepping on one of them causes it to stop its natural rising, and using them too long results in their disappearance. They reappear with the same function in Yoshi's Island DS in the levels Windblown Wilderness and Superhard Acrobatics! and in Yoshi's New Island.
| |
| | |
| ===Super Princess Peach===
| |
| Balloons in Super Princess Peach already appear in red, and they gain magenta cheek blushes with short strings hanging. They appear in Giddy Sky and remain still. If Peach stands on them, they go down slowly. If she jumps off one, it makes a short rise. After being stood on the first time, a balloon blinks after a few moments and then vanishes, reappearing in its original spot after a few more seconds. To make use of balloons, she has to jump repeatedly to reach new heights before they vanish.
| |
| | |
| ===Yoshi's Woolly World===
| |
| Balloons in Yoshi's Woolly World function identically as in the Yoshi's Island games. Balloons can be popped by Bullet Bills and Bull's-Eye Bills or from touching the ceiling.
