The '''Badwagon''' is a [[kart]] from the ''[[Mario Kart (series)|Mario Kart]]'' series. It resembles a hot-pink {{wp|muscle car}} with stereo speakers and a [[Roy Smooth Sounds]] logo on the rear. The [[emblem]] is located on the hood. The vehicle's name is a pun on "{{wp|bandwagon effect}}," a psychological phenomenon where individuals more easily conform to a trend set by a larger group of people regardless of contrary evidence.

The Badwagon first appears in ''[[Mario Kart 8]]'' as a default kart body. Although muscle cars are typically built for speed, the Badwagon does not offer any ground speed boost (though it offers a water speed boost); it excels at weight and traction while acceleration and handling are lowered. In ''Mario Kart 8 Deluxe'', however, it offers a speed boost on the ground while the water speed is reduced.

The stereo speakers and the lights animate to the beat of the background music, while they are idle in the beginning of the race and briefly when the final lap jingle plays. It shares its stats with the [[Tri-Speeder]], the [[Steel Driver]], the [[Standard ATV]], and the [[GLA]]. Artwork of the kart shows that it has {{wp|Steering#Four-wheel steering|four-wheel steering}}, though it is not used in-game. It has the engine sound of a V-twin with loud and distinctive exhaust noise.

A CPU-controlled [[Princess Peach|Peach]] will occasionally use this vehicle body, paired with the [[Standard (tire)|Standard]] tires.

While this vehicle body is available right from the start in ''Mario Kart 8'', in ''[[Mario Kart 8 Deluxe]]'', it must be unlocked by collecting [[coin]]s. CPU [[King Boo]], [[Roy Koopa|Roy]], [[Wario]], and [[Pink Gold Peach]] occasionally use this body during races with the [[Off-Road]] tires.

The Badwagon returns in ''[[Mario Kart Tour]]'', where it is classified as a High-End kart. It offers longer-lasting [[Mini-Turbo]] boosts and increases the amount of points earned for performing Mini-Turbos. It uses the [[Retro Off-Road]] tires (although an official screenshot shows it with the [[Pipe Frame]]’s tires instead). Unlike its first appearance, the kart's speakers do not move and the lights do not flash. The game introduces two variants, a blue variant, simply named the [[Blue Badwagon]], and a platinum variant, which is named the [[Grand Badwagon]], as well as an orange flower-themed counterpart, which is named the [[Flowery Badwagon]]. All three are also classified as High-End karts.

Since its debut, the Badwagon is available in regular tour pipes, including the All-Clear Pipe. It is also a part of the Daily Selects lineup. The table below lists the kart's special availability by tour.

It is represented by [[Pink Gold Peach]]'s ''Mario Kart 8'' artwork, where she drives a Badwagon. When used, the spirit increases movement speed. Its puppet fighter is a [[Metal Mario|Metal Peach]], fought on the [[Mario Circuit (Super Smash Bros. for Wii U)|Mario Circuit]] stage; defeating her in battle will earn the player the spirit. The Badwagon spirit can also be obtained by purchasing it from [[Funky Kong]]'s Shack for 4,000 Spirit Points at standard price.
