An Artichoker is a plant-like monster that can be found in Booster Pass. This creature resembles an ordinary shrub. However, an Artichoker has tiny legs instead of roots, allowing the plant to move. The plant creature also has a head (that resembles a bullfrog) that remains hidden behind its protective leaves. Both the legs and the head are revealed when an Artichoker attacks.
Most of the time, Artichokers will remain stationary, appearing to be a normal shrubs. This is, in fact, a clever survival mechanism that allows the Artichokers to prey on unsuspecting travelers. Since items can sometimes be found in shrubs, an unlucky adventurer may accidentally stumble across an Artichoker, instead of treasure. After falling for the deception, the adventurer will have to fight the plant monster in combat. Unfortunately for the traveler, Artichokers prove to be very tough opponents.
In battle, the Artichoker's leaves form a barrier that protect the monster's head, giving the Artichoker high physical defense. Also, an Artichoker has two primary attacks when engaged in combat. The first is causing damage by scuttling around on its tiny feet. An Artichoker can also shoot bubbles that cause damage on contact. Additionally, the Artichoker can use the lightning attack Static E!, and spray chemicals to Poison unlucky travelers.
Artichokers are the relatives of the Kriffids. Another plant-based monster, the Carroboscis, also resides in Booster Pass (but is not related to the Artichoker).
