The fossilized dragons can be temporarily brought back to life during [[Wonder Effect]]s in [[Dragon Boneyard]], [[Deep Magma Bog Special Solar Roller]], and [[The Final Battle! Bowser's Rage Stage]]. Living Ancient Dragons travel through the air and through [[lava]] on set paths like the [[Dragon (Yoshi's Story)|dragon]]s from ''Yoshi's Story'', though they have a wider range of motion and may loop on themselves unlike the latter.

Bowser's Rage Stage to transport the player over a gap. A [[dark]]-obscured Ancient Dragon that helps the player touch the names floating by also appears in the end credits.

The alive dragon flies in the air and through lava while occasionally looping on itself.
