'''Alley Rats''' are a stronger variation of [[Rat Funk]]s that appears in ''[[Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars]]''. They appear in the [[Sunken Ship]] off the coast of [[Seaside Town]]. They may appear in large numbers or alongside several other enemies. Their name is a pun on "alley cat".

In battle, Alley Rats usually attack with their tail, which can [[Poison (move)|poison]]. Alley Rats may also [[flee]] from battle. They have no strengths or weaknesses. Some Alley Rats in the overworld man [[cannon]]s that shoot [[Bullet Bill]]s to knock [[Mario]] and his party members to lower sections of the level. If a Bullet Bill is hit from underneath, the cannon it was fired from will stop shooting Bullet Bills, allowing Mario and his partners to proceed. However, defeating the Alley Rat does not stop the cannon.
