| |
| #1 Iggy's Castle is the first castle in the game Super Mario World. It introduces fences that can be climbed as well as lava, which kills Mario or Luigi instantly upon being touched. As the name suggests, Iggy Koopa is fought here.
| |
| ==Layout==
| |
| The castle consists of three rooms, one with climbable fences, one with a moving screen, and the boss room. The player has 300 seconds on the Timer to complete the level. This level contains no Dragon Coins in the original, but in the remake it has five.
| |
|
| |
|
| The first room of the first castle is covered in fences, which can be climbed on with snes. The fence is teeming with Climbing Koopas that also climb on the fence. Climbing above and then onto these Koopas cause a chain in points, so defeating these Koopas can result in 1-Ups; however, if the player punches the Koopas off, the points do not chain. This gate spans above a lava-covered ground, where Lava Bubbles jump from. There are also Revolving Doors that the player can hit to switch sides. There is a Message Block at the start that gives information on how to use the fences, a Switch Block in the middle that turns coins to Empty Blocks as well as a ? Block that contains a Fire Flower, and a Message Block at the end that tells the player one of Yoshi's friends is trapped in the castle.
| | Iggy Koopa's Castle (actually called #1 Iggy's Castle) is the first castle in the game Super Mario World. It introduces crawlable fences to the game as well as lava, which kills instantly upon being touched. |
|
| |
|
| The second room in the castle features a moving screen with a giant wooden Pillar smashing onto the ground. Being hit by one of the Pillars causes damage. Stretch Blocks help the player cross a gap near the end. Entering the red door at the end of the room leads to the boss.

| ==Boss battle==
| | The first room of the first castle is covered in fences, which can be crawled on with the D-Pad. The grate is teeming with Koopa Troopas that also crawl on the grate. Crawling above and then onto these Koopas will cause a chain in points, so defeating many Koopas will result in many 1-Ups. This gate spans above a lava-covered ground, where Podoboos jump from. |

| | The second room in the castle features a moving screen with a giant wooden pillar smashing onto the ground. Hitting the Yellow P-Switch will cover up some of the holes in the ground. Entering the red door at the end of the room will lead to the first boss. |

| After Mario enters the big red door at the end of the level leading to the boss fight, he lands on a platform floating in lava with Iggy on it. Iggy attacks by ducking his head into his shell and tossing balls with stars on them (similar to the ones Lemmy balances on in Super Mario Bros. 3), which damage Mario if he touches them, while the platform tilts left and right. To defeat him, Mario needs to jump on or throw fireballs at Iggy to push him off the platform. Once Iggy is defeated, a cutscene is shown afterward in which Mario blows up the castle, rescuing one of Yoshi's friends and unlocking the next world, Donut Plains.

| | As Mario appears in the room, the giant Shell Iggy is standing on will tilt side to side. Iggy will throw balls at Mario, who must jump over them while hitting Iggy on the head with Jumps or Fireballs. Eventually Iggy will fall into the lava and, with a roar, be defeated. |
