Mario Kart 7[edit]

Given that this is the only size of Goomba to appear in this game, where things are more than likely going to be bigger to account for low screen resolution to help see the darn things, shouldn't that just be moved to Goomba? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:41, 5 November 2017 (EDT)

Additionally, it's just internally referred to as a kuribo, supporting a move to Goomba. LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:05, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
Agreed. Big Cheep Cheeps were massive on the DS and 3DS to account for low screen resolution. Similar situation here. TheDarkStar Sprite of the Dark Star from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey 12:50, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
Agreed. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 13:02, August 29, 2019 (EDT)

New name?[edit]

Should we rename this article to Mega Goomba (PM: CS, MP: SR) or Giant Goomba (M+R: SoH) or leave as is? PrincessPeachFan (talk) 19:17, October 21, 2022 (EDT)
Likely Giant Goomba since that's apparently the most recent in-game name, but Micro Goomba was moved to Mini Goomba over Small Goomba because Mini is much more common, in which case Mega Goomba probably edges it out, though Big Goomba might still be in use if the Mario Kart Tour info is accurate. This needs some more input. LinkTheLefty (talk) 07:59, October 22, 2022 (EDT)
Updating: Giant Goomba has its own article, but going by this, Mario Kart Tour's "Big Goombas" are actually labeled as Goombas - which leaves "Mega Goomba" as the most recent subject name. LinkTheLefty (talk) 22:06, October 16, 2024 (EDT)

Movie[edit]

Given that one appears as a prisoner in the background, when Luigi gets locked in a cell, should we add this? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 04:50, April 9, 2023 (EDT)

You sure it's actually a Big Goomba? Mario jumping Nightwicked Bowser Bowser emblem from Mario Kart 8 05:08, April 9, 2023 (EDT)
Given the thing's size, then i'd say yeah. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 05:35, April 9, 2023 (EDT)

Create an article for the Giant Goomba in Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope[edit]

Okay, it was bound to happen eventually but here we are - A proposal for the Giant Goomba from Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope getting its own article.

Earlier this month I made a proposal for moving the Big Magikoopa article to the Giant Magikoopa article, but the result was creating a new article for the Giant Magikoopa from Mario + Rabbids Sparks of Hope. I wanted the same thing to happen to the Giant Goomba, and so I want to split its information from the Big Goomba article.

Vote "Support" to agree to create an article for the Giant Goomba. Vote "Oppose" to do nothing.

Proposer: Sparks (talk)
Deadline: December 4, 2023, 23:59 GMT

Support[edit]

  1. Sparks (talk) Per Proposal.
  2. Hewer (talk) Per the Giant Magikoopa split.
  3. FanOfYoshi (talk) Per Sparks [of Hope].
  4. Camwoodstock (talk) Per the proposal, and the Giant Magikoopa split that instigated this in the first place. Gotta be consistent!

Super Mario Maker series[edit]

I was wondering, why do we put this information in the Big Goomba article? The large Goomba counterparts are from what I know unnamed in-game, and behave more like Hefty Goombas than they do Big Goombas. The emblem of Dry Bones from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe This is me, D-B-B! I'd support moving the information to Hefty Goomba. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 07:02, September 30, 2024 (EDT)
They're called Big Goombas in one of the Mary O. & Yamamura episodes. Here. Blinker (talk) 18:07, September 30, 2024 (EDT)
We currently consider Blurp, which has identical behavior to its non-Maker behavior, to appear in the series despite being named in-game as "Cheep Cheep", a higher-priority source than a website. I don't see why this website name would change this. The emblem of Dry Bones from Mario Kart 8 Deluxe This is me, D-B-B! It's also because of, as mentioned here, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS (and I'm pretty sure it was found to be translated accurately in a separate discussion). LinkTheLefty (talk) 10:15, October 4, 2024 (EDT)
For what it's worth, the Japanese version of the Mary O. & Yamamura episode uses the usual "Deka Kuribo" name. Also, from what I can see, the Japanese version of the 3DS game consistently uses the prefixes deka and pata for big and flying enemies respectively, resulting in names like "Deka Patabubble" ("flying big Lava Bubbles" in the English translation).
