Template:Location-infobox Thwomp Volcano (Japanese: ドッスン・ボルケーノ Dossun Volcano) is a large currently inactive volcano in the northwest corner of the Mushroom Kingdom. The Mario Bros. came here in pursuit of Bowser during the events of Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time. Young Elvin Gadd used to live here prior to its annual eruption. A trail leads up to the volcano with a sign saying "Beware of falling objects". The sign references Thwomps, which attack by pounding foes. The volcano is full of, and appears to made out of Thwomps for some unknown reason. Thwomp Caverns can be accessed by using Mr. Thwomp as an elevator, and deep inside the caverns will include a battle where Bowser and Baby Bowser are fought.

After the Hydrogush 4000 rendered it inactive, the Mario Bros. journey inside after being confronted by Mr. Thwomp and Mrs. Thwomp. Mrs. Thwomp becomes outraged that the volcano became inactive and her husband loses his confidence. After the battle with Mrs. Thwomp, Mr. Thwomp agreed to help the Mario Bros. get a lift inside.

A new Thwomp was found at the bottom of the first sublevel after Mr. Thwomp delivered the Mario Bros. to the top of the first sublevel. He helped the Mario Bros. get to the lower sub-levels of the Thwomp Volcano and was stopped when there was a large giant ! Block blocking access to the next sublevel.

A second Thwomp was found running the Slot Machine game. The Mario Bros. needed to play the game at least once to reach the next area. The game costs 100 coins to play, and prizes vary upon the result and skill level of the game, with four Beans or 80 coins being the highest prize on Extra-Burly Mode. For the 100 coin stake, it is possible to play the game up to six times, depending on how many gems are collected in the pinball game above the slots, therefore making the total maximum prize either 480 coins, 24 Beans or a combination thereof.

Another Thwomp was found near a Twister and an ! Block. The only way to reach the ! Block was to board it and Spin Jump up. Like the other Thwomp, he requires the Mario Bros. to play a mini-game involving spinning down a deep room and collecting gems. If they have collected enough gems, he will allow them to Jump on top of him and reach the block. Leaving this room and returning allows the Mario Bros. to play again. This time, collecting 30 gems awards 20 coins, and collecting all 50 awards a Simple Badge for the first time, and a Bean for all subsequent successful attempts.

As every sublevel is passed, there will be a Warp Pipe in the left area of the sublevel. This allows the Bros. to return to that sublevel with ease.

When the fifth sublevel is reached, the Mario Bros. encounter Bowser and Baby Bowser. After the battle, a huge yellow beam kidnaps the Mario Bros. and takes them to the Shroob Mothership.Bowser and Baby Bowser fly away on the Thwomp previously used to go down to the bottom of the volcano. Bowser falls off the Thwomp and into the time portal at the base of the volcano, while Baby Bowser stays on and falls onto the roof of the Mothership, entering it later in hope of cookies.

Enemies in this area include: Tanoombas, Red Coconutters, Thwacks, and Thwack Totems.

Trivia

  • When Bowser and Baby Bowser get shot out of the volcano, they are going up. When Bowser is falling down, the scenery is still going up even though Bowser is falling down.
