Crate Burning is a mini-game playable in Super Mario Galaxy 2, along with Ball Rolling. As the name implies, it involves Fire Mario or Fire Luigi burning the Crates on the arena. The mini-games can only be played in Rightside Down Galaxy in the mission "The Great Crate Incinerator", and Upside Dizzy Galaxy in the mission "Burning Upside Dizzy". The objective of the mini-game is to use the Fire Flower abilities (the effects last for the entire mini-game) to burn all the crates within the time limit. After all the crates have been destroyed, the Gearmo rewards Mario or Luigi with a Power Star. Losing the mini-game does not result in losing a life.

Interestingly, the mini-games are only found in gravity-altering-based galaxies.
