He wouldn't be so intimidating if he didn't have those spikes.
Tap-Tap the Red Nose is the mid-boss of World Six in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. He's a giant Tap-Tap that jumps around trying to hit the Yellow Yoshi. The blocks that make up the floor over the lava pit can be blown away by egg hits. If he lands in the lava you'll win. Don't worry about running out of eggs, two Egg-Plants are suspended above the area on a platform. Beware though, he can reach every place in the room even if you try to hide.
There are two invisible wing clouds hidden in the blocks on the left and right sides. Use them if he hits you to regain health.
