PAIRreview for Boo by Gofer | ||
Accuracy | 2.5 | Relatively accurate, the only really major error I found was the "Streche are boo with long body." thing. There's a few minor error, but nothing glaring. |
Depth | 2.0 | I found the "What make a Boo a Boo." section quite nice, especially considering than th past Fa Goomba didn't have such a thing. UNfortunately, most of the section is pretty much speculation (The "Bigger Hideout = More powerful Boo" thing is an example.) As for the article,It could use some depth, for example, the SMRPG section don't have much information while the same section on Big Boo have load and load of information. The SUper Paper Mario section is welll, an one-liner, unnceptable. It also lack much information for the spinoff game, esspecially Mario Striker charged. |
Grammar | 3.0 | I let soemone else review that. |
Images | 3.0 | Good, The article could use some more, IMO. |
Formatting | 4.0 | Good, no problem here. |
Final Rating: | 14.5 | Slighty above average, not FA worthy.Full of POV and speculation, also. |

Accuracy | 2.0 | The speculation and POV in this article is what really killed the score. |
Depth | 2.0 | Some one-liners, the depth isn't that great. To fix this, writers should add a little info on the sub-species that were also present in the game. Also, some sections are unorganized. Why is the Paper Mario section at the bottom? |
Grammar | 3.0 | Grammar is a little off in a few areas and can get confusing. |
Images | 3.5 | A few more would help, but the aligning is still not very nice to look at. |
Formatting | 3.5 | Slight, minor problems like some &ndashs are missing in the list of subspecies and perhaps a scroll box is needed to cut down the size from templates. |
Final Rating: | 14 | An average article, but will need a lot of work before it can even get nominated. |

Koopa Troop?
How are Boos part of the Koopa Troop? They might not directly help Bowser, but just attack Mario when he is in a ghost house or is in their territory. There isn't enough (or no) proof that Boos or its subspecies are part of Bowser's minions.Knife (talk)

Predators?
I feel the need to point out that despite Tubba Blubba eating Boos, that does by no means mean that ALL Clubba's eat them. Tubba is the only one ever seen doing so, making the following line: 'Despite being ghosts, Boos still have predators. The only known predator of Boos are Clubbas, which seem to highly fancy them, as seen in Tubba Blubba's lust for ghosts.' Highly speculative, I think it should be rewritten so that it does not say ALL Clubba's eat them, as there is no solid proof of this matter. --Candle Jack
- Agreed, Tubba Blubba was the only Clubba seen eating Boos. My Bloody Valentine
A lot of this article is speculation and generalizes way too much. -- Son of Suns
Then pretty much the entire thing needs a rewrite then, doesn't it? I may give it a try. --Candle Jack(Still need to make Userpage)
Kind of in line with that is the redirect here from ghost. Should we make a disambiguation page instead? Or a full article? Stumpers! 20:14, 5 December 2007 (EST)
Quote?
Can someone put up a quote for this Boo Article? It also needs a notable act in the Mario Series. IG Boos Notable act was in Mario Party 8 it was playable.(Super F22 Pilot 04:16, 22 November 2007 (EST))
- F22, how about the quote from Super Mario 64? "Heh, heh... ghosts...don't...die..."? I don't exactly understand your "notable act" concept, but I think it applies to Boo. Stumpers! 20:05, 7 December 2007 (EST)
- Isn't Big Boo the one who actually said that?
- Hmm... I can't say he didn't, but I can definately say those ghosts did. I watched a speed run video to get my "..." count just right, and I saw it just after a l'il normal Boo was "killed". Stumpers! 16:17, 13 January 2008 (EST)
- It's uttered every time you kill a Boo (In SM64DS, anyway)and you can hear Big Boo distinctive cackle while it's said. --Blitzwing 16:30, 13 January 2008 (EST)
- Watch this video. It's of the original 64 and you can distinctly hear the normal Boo voice. Stumpers! 21:02, 13 January 2008 (EST)

- Okay. Should we make a redirect from Boo-Hoo to here?--LordVoldemortAvada Kedavra 10:37, 14 May 2008 (EDT)
- Of course, from Buu Huu and Teresa too, in that case. --LordVoldemortAvada Kedavra 10:39, 14 May 2008 (EDT)
I read somewhere that "Teresa" is Japanese for "Ghost," or so I think. YELLOWYOSHI398
- TMK has an answer. They wrote: "In Japanese, "tere(ru)" is a verb that means "to be shy" or "to be bashful". "Tere" is the word stem and "ru" is its end-form ending. This describes why they are so shy that they can't look at Mario's face. And I think this is meant to be a comicality that, though normal spooks spook or scare humans, they can't, and even they are scared by humans." About the redirects: Redirects for the Japanese names (I made one for Teresa) are fine, I think, since they are usually the first names. But I don't think it's a good idea for names of all languages. It would easily cause hundreds of more redirects, we would be overflowed with them. People who type a non-English name into the search box will also find the respective article if the name is mentioned within the article ("Foreign Names"). --Grandy02 15:45, 16 May 2008 (EDT)
- Redirects have historically been allowed for all versions of game titles, but usually just the US, UK, and JP names are there. I think the same would be allowed for characters. Feel free to add redirects from the French names as well, because of French-speaking regions in Canada. Stumpers! 18:10, 16 May 2008 (EDT)

Dead or alive?
Are boos the dead remains of other species or just their own species? User:Mecha-Boss Unit
- I think there's been evidence pertaining to both, actually. I pretty sure there have been references made about certain Boos concerning who they used to be, but I can't help feeling they're more like a species in their own right, especially when you have actual "undead"-type ghosts, like the Category:Portrait Ghosts in Luigi's Mansion and Ghost T. in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. It's one of the many things Nintendo has declined to be precise about... - Walkazo 00:59, 7 July 2009 (EDT)
Paper Mario Improvements?
Does anyone else think that the Paper Mario section of this page needs a lot of improvement? I want to get advice before I make any major changes. I would also like anyone who knows how to make a bestiary template for PM:TTYD to do so. ( I have no idea how, so some help on that would be welcome.) -Doopliss rocks

Section Ordering
Is it just me, or are many of the sections placed in the wrong areas? The Super Mario Bros. series is especially bad... Compared to just about every other page, the sections aren't ordered right. Redstar 11:55, 9 December 2009 (EST)
- AFAICS, the order looks correct to me. What exactly do you mean by "the Super Mario Bros. series"? Time Questions 17:12, 9 December 2009 (EST)
- The first section. On other articles, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is placed right after Super Mario Bros. and Super Mario 64 DS is placed right after Super Mario 64. The Super Mario RPG section is also never found under the Super Mario Bros. series section, but farther down between the Yoshi series and Mario Party series sections. Not to mention the presence of Super Mario Galaxy 2, when I thought we weren't supposed to write about enemy presence in games until release. Redstar 17:31, 9 December 2009 (EST)
A Couple Things
A couple of issues and questions regarding said issues:
-
- 1) I think there needs to be a better, more clear differentiation in the Boo article between medium-sized Boos, which have pretty much been established as the "regular" variety, and Boo Buddies (which should be considered a sub-species). In particular, I think what needs to be mentioned is that standard Boos didn't appear until the first Yoshi's Island, and Boo Diddlys, the first Boos of any kind to appear, were simply Boo Buddies under a different name.
- 2) On a related note, are those little swarming Boos from Ghost Castle in Yoshi's Story actually Boo Buddies? They're currently listed as such, but it seems they're too small to even qualify as that particular sub-species (especially given the fact that ghosts that are indisputably buddy-sized appear in the Big and Little Boo chains in the game). I think the term "Mini-Boo" might be more in order, even if it's just conjectural.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Rebelx24 (talk).
- Boos, Boo Diddlies and Boo Buddies are all the same, they simply have been given different English names (in original Japanese, it's always Teresa). The only exception are the Boo Buddies exclusively found in groups, as first seen in Super Mario World. As this article already says, the term Boo Buddy has also been used for regular Boos. --Grandy02 06:47, 30 January 2010 (EST)

In the Mario Party games, when does Boo say those things? Pikmin1254
- Where, specifically, are you talking about? Hello, I'm Time Turner.
I've completed Mario Party DS, where does Boo say THAT? Boo only appears in the minigames and trophies, and doesn't talk in either one. --Koopapoopa 09:27, 27 May 2010 (EDT)

The quotes section is strange. I've never play the Mario Party series (except 8 and DS) or anything else but I don't think those quotes are even real. I recently removed some quotes because I can recall that Boo did NOT state these:
- "Let's battle it out, Waluigi!" – Mario Party 8
- "Ahhh! Bowser's got ME!!!" – Mario Party DS
What about the rest? Can anyone tell me if they're real? (I'm just thinking that they're false cause the two above were) Mario JC
