MarioWiki:Missions
Can you take the challenge?
This new special project, inspired from Knife (talk) and led by Wayoshi (talk), is a chance to collaborate while having fun with other members on the wiki. It's a perfect way for a new user to start editing and a veteran to get back in the swing again!
Here's a brief account of what we hope to happen:
Minimum Requirements:
Any user with an account on the forum can log onto the chat room (check in with Steve to activate your account if it's an email issue), and this is where organizing the challenges will take place. You'll need about 60-90 minutes of spare time to finish all the challenges, but again, anyone can come in for just some of the challenges if time is running short. There's nothing to gain & nothing to lose, unless you consider having your username posted on this page an honor. :D
How Do I Play?: 10 (tentative #) challenges, that is, a collaborative task, will be made up in advance. Each will have a time limit, varying. For example, it could be "add a sentence to a Place article" or "fix two funny captions", or "categorize three uncategorized pages" (though there are only 2, and both are excusable). By doing this, while everyone is having fun, helpful wiki edits are being made at the same time. Also, while there is a time limit, it's not a race against the clock – the most qualitative change will be chosen as the winner of the specific challenge, gaining one point. The last challenge will be worth 3 points, taking more time and being harder. Whoever has the most points at the end wins the Challenge Set, and their name appears in the report for each challenge set, which will include each challenge's description, winner, and edit diff.
There is no sign-up list, because everyone with a wiki account is invited to play. Just check this page often (I suggest watching it) for updates on when the next session is, most likely on a weekend. We look to have this event about once every fortnight.
