Orange
Orange Grenades are basic weapons in Donkey Kong 64; they appear in every level. In appearance, Orange Grenades look like generic oranges with a pin similar to those found on real grenades at the top. There is also a green colored version that some enemies use, such as Klumps and Zingers. To throw an Orange Grenade, the player had to hold Z and press C-right. This could only be done if the Kong had enough Orange Grenades. The Kongs can also throw Orange Grenades while in midair.
Orange Grenades are useful for getting through tough barriers and defeating certain enemies. Orange Grenades also appear in Multiplayer Mode, where they are used normally. However, they can also be used to use an attack identical to the one that Kasplats use. Krusha also use Orange Grenades as ammo for his Orange Grenade Launcher.
Trivia
- In Donkey Kong 64, Klumps would occasionally get bored when on patrol. They would look around, and then eat an Orange Grenade, followed by an explosion in his stomach and a burp.
- An item that looks similar to an Orange Grenade in melon form appears in Donkey Kong Barrel Blast.
