Octopus (Game & Watch)
Octopus is a Game & Watch game released in where the player must get as much gold as they can. However, he or she must watch out for the Octopus near the treasure. If he or she hit it's tentacles, the player loses a life. Losing all lives, means it's a Game Over. It also appears in Game and Watch Gallery, Game & Watch Gallery 4, and Game & Watch Collection 2. Also in Game & Watch Collection 2, one game combines this game together with Parachute.
Classic Version
Three scuba-divers head for a treasure under the sea, guarded by the Octopus. The divers must be patient, because the Octopus's tentacles are moving randomly. There are three scuba divers total, which function as available misses for the player. The player scores whenever he grabs a piece of treasure or returns the load to the boat. Game B is faster and more difficult.
Modern Version
The gameplay in this version is largely the same, but the graphics are updated and the divers are replaced by Mario down below and Princess Peach in the boat. However, in this version, Mario gets slower as he grabs more treasure. To counter this, Mario can throw all of his treasure, which lightens his load and can stun one of the octopus's tentacles for a brief time. At 200, 500, and 700 points, Lakitu will drop a Heart to recover a miss. In Game & Watch Gallery 4, the Octopus changes color as the player gains 200 points.
