Barry

Barry is an optional Pixl in the Wii game Super Paper Mario. Mario and Peach first meet Barry after Francis kidnaps Tippi. Barry reveals three tips on how to reach Francis's fortress. Later, after Tippi is rescued, Barry joins the party because he has nothing else to do. Barry can surround the main character with a strong barrier that can do damage to their enemies and deflect enemy attacks (though it appears for only a few seconds). Barry did not realize that Mario was the great hero until he comes back to see him after defeating Francis.

Trivia

• His name is a real name, but used as a pun on his special ability, creating barriers.
• According to his Tattle, Barry is ashamed at not realizing Mario was the hero of the Light Prognosticus.
• Though this would appear to be a simple coincidence, the name "Barry" had previously been used in Yoshi's Universal Gravitation, where it referred to a Bear-type Eggling.
• He resembles the special effects for a barrel roll, a famous Starfox maneuver that deflects enemy fire.
