Talk:Octoomba
KO
Are you sure we shouldn't use it? There's going to be an article made for it, planned at least. Though the name will probably be "Knocked Out" or something. But yeah, defeated is better either way. --King Piranha Plant 17:35, 26 October 2006 (EDT)
- Maybe an article can be named Knocked Out, a minor one that explains the meaning. Who is planning the article? Template:Color-link-pipedayoshi TC@ 17:38, 26 October 2006 (EDT)
- A project (not a pipeproject though) of a category of "Terms" that I started. HP has been made, and soon someone, maybe even me, will make an article for "Knocked Out." Or perhaps "Knock Out" for KO. --King Piranha Plant 22:34, 26 October 2006 (EDT)
- Oh, that's absolutely fine. :) Template:Color-link-pipedayoshi TC@ 22:41, 26 October 2006 (EDT)

- I think we should only make an article for "knocked out" only if the term itself has appeared in the Marioverse. -- Son of Suns
- Well of course it has, in several games. The most notable is Super Smash Bros. and Super Smash Bros. Melee. Some of the Mario RPG series games have used it as well, if not all. --King Piranha Plant 19:31, 27 October 2006 (EDT)
- Well, I think Super Mario RPG uses the term "fallen" or "downed". I don't know about the other RPGs. Super Smash Bros. uses the term "Ring Out" (I believe), as you don't actually KO any fighters. Others terms have been used, but not KO itself. -- Son of Suns
This shows almost no relation to a Snifit.
The only relation they share is they spit stuff. This is whatever King Magma Blooper is. I saw a video on YouTube, where the "Astro Snifits" weren't easily wiped out on the flying ship and rather than spitting the comets, they spit the same flaming meteors KMB did! They also have the same tentacles and antenna KMB does! I'm looking for the video again, but under Super Mario Galaxy they have around eighty videos. Has anybody seen this video to confirm it with me? Para Yoshi Wahoo! 20:26, 29 October 2006 (EST)

- I was planning it to be my first PipeProject. And yes, I saw the excact same video you did. It's just called "Super Mario Galaxy play" or "SMG play 1". 3dejong
- Actually, the one I saw was called Super Mario Galaxy 4CR Impressions. Para Yoshi Wahoo! 11:16, 30 October 2006 (EST)

Huh?
What's the proof that it's a blooper? They show almost no relation to me? Peachycakes 3.14
Official name?
Is this the official name? If not, it should quickly get {{conjecture}}. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 12:44, 3 November 2007 (EDT)
Who said this was a Cataquack? It doesn't even look like one! User:Fly_Guy_2 User_talk:Fly_Guy_2 Someone really needs to call Nintendo about all these unconfirmed names. Bob Greenlake 16:06, 14 November 2007 (EST)
Electro Goomba
Is there anything to support this name or a relation to goombas? --Tykyle 22:14, 29 November 2007 (EST)
- My vote goes for "Cosmic Octorok". CrossEyed7 14:39, 2 December 2007 (EST)
That sounds good, but I'd say "Cosmic Octo" seeing as both these and King Kaliente closely resemble Octos.--Tykyle 15:39, 2 December 2007 (EST)
- Electrogoomba is a name taken from the official guide. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 16:24, 2 December 2007 (EST)
- Octos look a lot like Gunions, incidentally. Don't know if anyone's pointed that out before. CrossEyed7 14:42, 4 December 2007 (EST)
Although Prima is official, they do make a lot of mistakes. The name doesn't make any sense. They don't look like Goombas and are not electrical. Anyone know what these creatures are really called?Knife (talk) 15:54, 21 January 2008 (EST)
Should we put up a "conjecture" tag? or is the Prima guide official enough for now? --Tykyle 18:17, 20 February 2008 (EST)
Sub-Species
I think we should make separate articles for the different sub-species if enough info can be gathered. The current sub-species section is very jumbled. It would seem as though there are three types: the blue variety with yellow spots, the red rock-spitting kind, and the brown fire-ball spitting ones. (I don't think the invisible woven ones are electrogoombas, they don't have an antennea, snout, or similarly shaped body. They seem to be the moneybags of Mario Galaxy and a different species altogether.)
Are they Goombas or Bloopers?
I've seen both being used interchangeably in the article. So which is it?Knife (talk) 11:42, 19 January 2008 (EST)
- Before the release of Super Mario Galaxy, this article was called "Cosmic Blooper" and it don't seem to have been edited that much since Super Mario Galaxy release. --Blitzwing 11:50, 19 January 2008 (EST)
Also, a Toad refers to the brown sub-specie as a squid.Knife (talk) 18:48, 19 January 2008 (EST)
Japanese Name
http://www.play-asia.com/paOS-13-71-93-49-en-70-2sga.html reveals that these guys are named Takobos (octopus robots). I know that the official guide calls them Electrogoombas, but still... -- Booster
Perhaps a Shroob?
Toad refers to it as an alien (most of the enemies are not aliens, even though they are on different planets, because they all work for Bowser) The Electrogoomba's color scheme and body details look similar to that of a Shroob. Also, the head of the boss enemy Swiggler from Mario and Luigi : PIT look very similar to the bodies of these things, even the eyes. The Shroob variant of a Snifit maybe?

Goombas? They're Deku Scrubs! Or...
OK, that was a little bit of a stretch, but they do resemble them (i'll put it in a trivia section). But they are NOT Goombas. They don't have stems, they're method of attack is exactly the opposite, but this is my idea:
KALIENTES. We have a King Kaliente who looks and attacks almost exactly the same, yes? So it is clear that Kaliente is either the bosses name or a species. Ofcourse, there is King Boo, who uses my sugested method as opposed to a unique name. And the sub-species should be Big, Mega or Super Kalientes. Jakeyboy01 16:16, 30 July 2008 (EDT)
Well, IIRC the name "Electrogoomba" was provided by Nintendo Power or someplace. We can't have a fan name if a real one was given, can we?GreenKoopa - Comments or questions?
But people above have said it was in the official something or other, but have also said the official something or other is... unreliable. Here is proof it is unreliable - Captain Maple Syrup read the last peice of Trivia. not saying it happened here, but Electrogoomba? They arent even electric (though maybe robotic octopusses).
