“Boy, everywhere you look, it's ghosts, ghosts, and more ghosts! Listen up, because you'll want to know how to fend 'em off. Jeepers creepers, better cast yer peepers on the top screen! All you have to do is stop moving and stay totally motionless. If you stay still, the ghosts turn transparent, and they can't hurt you. When you're walking, just stop where you are. When you're on pegs, grab on with both hands and freeze! Remember, when you're in danger, just stay calm and stay still.”
Cranky Kong in Spooky Woods, DK: Jungle Climber

Ghosts are enemies in both games of the DK series.

History[edit]

DK: King of Swing[edit]

Ghost

Ghosts debut in DK: King of Swing. They are encountered in the Ship of Souls only, where they float around a set area until they spot the player character (Donkey Kong or Diddy Kong), at which point they fade in and out while chasing him. A ghost can damage the player character while it is opaque, but a single charge attack can defeat it. Ghosts can be safely passed through while translucent.

DK: Jungle Climber[edit]

Ghosts are featured within Spooky Woods, a level in DK: Jungle Climber. They are always invisible unless Donkey Kong moves around. If it is close, a ghost scares the player character away. Ghosts pass through the player character if they are motionless.
