Dr. Vulko, or simply Vulko, is a character in Mario & Luigi: Brothership. He is a physician from Skorcheen Island who discovers the cure for those afflicted by Glohm: Ampberries. Dr. Vulko is an elderly man with orange skin and hair, stone-like eyebrows, and eyes that are always shut. His name appears to be derived from Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and volcanoes.
History
When Chilliam is afflicted with Glohm, Mario and Luigi head to Skorcheen Island in search of Dr. Vulko. Unfortunately, no one can reach him because the Connectar Flowers that lead up to his volcano home are not in bloom. Once Skorcheen Island is linked with Shipshape Island, the flowers bloom and Vulko is able to leave his house.
On Shipshape, Vulko cures Chilliam with an Ampberry, though he admittedly was not sure if it would work. Vulko then sets off on curing everyone else affected by Glohm, but he is running low on Ampberries, as he only received a few as a souvenir. Informing Mario and Luigi that the berries only grow on Wayaway Island, he tasks the brothers with finding more.
Once Mario and Luigi bring the large pile of Ampberries they found in Bowser's Castle to Dr. Vulko, he gives them some in addition to the Auto Ampberry Battle Plug. If Mario and Luigi ever run low on Ampberries, they can talk to Vulko on Shipshape to receive 10 more.
After Glohm Bowser is defeated and an unbreakable barrier forms around Fortress Zokket, Dr. Vulko suggests seeking out Adaphne on Jellyfish Island for help.
Following Reclusa's awakening, Dr. Vulko is trapped by one of his flowers and fantasizes about earning praise for his research.
