The Tattle Log images in the TTYD remake are scaled to the enemy's size—that is, large enemies such as Hooktail are massive compared to, say, a Hyper Bald Cleft. While keeping this scale on the wiki's gallery more accurately represents how the images appear in-game, enemy templates look horrendous. Going back to the Hyper Bald Cleft example, look at how much smaller the remake image is compared to the original. The majority of enemies have this issue (and I'm sure there are examples that look even worse than this one), so it's about time we deal with it. Though I have discussed this quite a bit on the wiki's Discord, I thought it would be best to make a proposal and get a wider range of opinions.

I see three ways of going about this. One, we just crop all the Tattle Log files. This would easily fix the template issue, but would also remove the in-game scaling for the gallery page section, thus making the gallery a less accurate representation of the game. Two, we keep the Tattle Log images as they currently are without cropping, but upload new versions that are cropped for use in the templates. This is the best of both worlds: the Tattle Log gallery retains the scaling, and the enemy stat templates no longer look awful. However, this does come with the issue of having to upload a lot of what are practically the same images, which could be viewed as redundant. Three, we use screenshots or sprites for the templates, leaving the Tattle Log images untouched. This similar to option 2, except there would not be as much redundancy between the images. Still, the images would be a tad harder to upload than just cropping existing ones, and in my opinion do not look as good in the template.

Note that giant enemies like the dragons, Smorg, etc, shouldn't need any other images uploaded, as the Tattle Log images are already large enough (though some could end up needing a tiny bit of cropping to match their respective GameCube images, but we'll see).

Option 1: Crop the existing Tattle Log images

Option 2: Create cropped duplicates of the Tattle Log images for enemy templates

  1. Technetium (talk) The best of both worlds, as I've stated above.

Option 3: Use screenshots or sprites for enemy templates

  1. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) - This is consistent with how we do it for other games. The tattle log textures being used is clearly just a temporary thing - like with the original TTYD's.
  2. Tails777 (talk) Per Doc. I feel this is merely a case of no one really getting around to uploading better images (I've kinda already noticed this on actual enemy articles, Frost Piranha for example, knowing the image in the info box needs replacing, but later noticing we just don't have an image for it). Regardless, I feel once sprites/screenshots have been uploaded, they'll be prioritized.

Do nothing: Continue using the existing Tattle Log images for enemy templates
