Talk:Polterguy
This is called the "Polterguy" in Minis March Again so I will move it there. Pseudo (talk) (contributions)
Polterguy refers to Phantom Guy or Pyro Guy?[edit]
...Contrary to the above, the article claims Phantom Guys haven't appeared since March of the Minis, and that the enemies of Minis March Again are actually Pyro Guys. So where does "Polterguy" come into the picture? Were they mistaken for Pyro Guys? LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:28, 5 May 2015 (EDT)
- Nevermind, I've gotten around to fixing this issue. For reference, "22. Phantom Guys" is their help button listing in March of the Minis, specifically unlocked after completing the first level of Spooky Attic. As for Polterguy, it seems there was confusion over its appearance in Minis March Again! due to the different appearance, but here's the quote from the help menu's list of enemies: "Polterguy – Mini Mario will burn if he is touched by a Polterguy! Step on a color switch to turn all the Polterguys of that color into blocks. Polterguy cannot be hurt by the hammer." LinkTheLefty (talk) 03:03, 10 January 2016 (EST)
Fire version[edit]
"Despite the name, they do not burn to the touch." What's going on here then? Is it saying that they don't burn the minis? And should they be in their own article? That piece of info shouldn't be in the other language box, that's for certain... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:51, 19 December 2017 (EST)
- It's a misnomer since burn damage has a unique animation when losing a life in Mario vs. Donkey Kong, whereas losing to these guys results in the standard one. As for whether to split, that's a little complicated since Polterguys now have an extremely similar design in Minis March Again! and there's very little incentive to separate something that should otherwise be adequately covered on the boss section. Merge potential?[edit]
So, trying to hopefully get a consensus here - what do we think about these and Boo Guys? It's clear that these fit the toy aesthetic like the Shy Guys, and are effectively the toy equivalents of Boo Guys. Recent proposals have been merging the toy versions with their original counterparts. This is just conjecture, but I think a possible reason for the alternate Mario vs. Donkey Kong names was to disassociate it from Boo. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:06, April 1, 2024 (EDT)
No! It's Not nice. Arthur2 (talk) 13:40, April 24, 2024 (EDT)
Normally I would say "Oh well they have the same Japanese name so obviously they are the same thing!!" But the Mario Vs. Donkey Kong series was developed in AMERICA, so I don't know honestlyBiggestMan 16:06, June 16, 2024 (EDT)
