First appearance Mario is Missing! (1993)

Mayor Smallburg is a character exclusive to the PC version of Mario is Missing!, appearing as the fictional mayor of Madrid. Like all other mayors in the game, they contact Luigi via videophone upon his arrival in the city, as well as after all of the artifacts in the area have been returned to their rightful locations. In the first call, Mayor Smallburg states that the landmarks are in chaos.

Once all of the artifacts have been recovered, Luigi receives a second call from Mayor Smallburg, who thanks him for saving the city from the Koopas and wishes him luck on the rest of his adventure.

In the MS-DOS version, Smallburg is depicted as a woman while the CD-ROM Deluxe version is depicted as a man. In the European CD-ROM versions, like all mayors, Froobnitz's appearance changes every time the player starts a new game or resumes the saved file.

Quotes

  • "This is Mayor Smallburg. See the stories I sent you from our paper? My tourist sights are a mess, my landmarks are in chaos. From what I can make out, extremely small turtles are stealing these things and escaping by very clever means. Track those turtles and return those artifacts, ASAP!"
  • "Luigi. You've saved our city from the Koopas, and the people are grateful. Thank you, good luck and good bye! And say hi to Mario when you find him!"
