The scientist is a recurring character in Mario is Missing!. He is depicted as an elderly man wearing typical scientist attire like a lab coat and safety glasses. The NES version depicts him as a young adult man.
Luigi can find the scientist in every country he goes to. Luigi can ask the scientist hints on the location Luigi is travelling to or ask him about the artifacts that Luigi is holding. In the PC versions, Luigi can also ask the scientist where he saw the nearby Koopa stating the cardinal or ordinal directions of the Koopa's location.
