So, any proof that the Hammerhead Bros. and Mine Cart Owner are Hoohooligans and not just Beanish? Niiue (talk) 04:10, 13 August 2017 (EDT)
- Mine Cart Owner has the right body structure, it looks like. As for the Hammerhead Bros., I'd say to remove it unless any proof comes up. However, I think you should change it back to having Beanish as the parent species, they're about as similar as the various ugly-designed Toads the game had. Are these actually "Hoohooligans"?[edit]
I realised the other day that the game never refers to these characters directly as "Hoohooligans". The only mention of Hoohooligans comes from one of the guys on the mountain, who says "Long ago, on this very mountain, the Hoohooligans developed the great Hoohoo civilization. At the summit, there still remain many mysterious remnants of this once great people." This only implies that Hoohooligans were the people of the Hoohoo Civilisation. Furthermore, in the manual it's stated "Traces of the Hoohooligans who used to inhabit this mysterious mountain can still be found here.", implying the Hoohooligan people are dead and gone. There's also the etymology of Hoohooligan which implies they would be rowdy or uncivilised, befitting of an ancient group of mountain-dwellers.
I'm starting to think Hoohooligans are just the ancient people of the mountain and this page should be renamed. - Seandwalsh (talk) 19:15, January 19, 2024 (EST)
- Curious if any guide has anything to say. We know they aren't considered "Beanish peoples" from another in-game quote. I'm almost considering if these should be considered a pre-design-change version of Hooski since they're also allegedly from Hoohoo Mountain. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:24, January 19, 2024 (EST)
- It was pointed out in the MarioWiki Discord by RHG that the Nintendo Power likely referred to them as "HooHooligans"

Who are the Hoohooligans?
The people of Hoohoo Village are shaped like giant beans, but don't be afraid (after all, Toad and his ilk are shaped like giant mushrooms). They're quite friendly, and if you take the time to chat with them, they'll tell you about their village and Hoohoo Mountain.

- Also been considering that they are, in one way or another, Hooskis, yeah. I think their Japanese name is generic enough for them to possibly share a page. The internal name for the green guys is "Uhu" (because in Japan Hoohoo Mountain is called ウフマウンテン (Ufu Maunten)). Unfortunately we don't have an internal name for Hooskis.
