Super Nintendo World at Universal Studios Hollywood (pictured) opened to the public on February 17, 2023. An official livestream of the grand opening was broadcast on February 15, 2023 at 20:00 PT.
In a Nintendo Direct presentation broadcast on February 8, 2023, Wave 4 of the Mario Kart 8 Deluxe – Booster Course Pass was confirmed to release in the spring of 2023, adding a new Yoshi's Island course and Birdo as a playable character. Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance games, including Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins, Wario Land 3, and Mario Kart: Super Circuit, were also announced to release on the Nintendo Switch via the newly introduced Game Boy - Nintendo Switch Online and Game Boy Advance - Nintendo Switch Online services.
Piranha Plant Cove, a new course for the Mario Kart series, debuted in Mario Kart Tour in the 2023 Exploration Tour.
In the United States, McDonald's has launched Happy Meal toys promoting The Super Mario Bros. Movie from December 27, 2022 through January 23, 2023.
