Category talk:Mario Kart Tour course appearances
Long Pages
I was looking at Special:LongPages and saw that pages in this category takes up 20 of the longest 50 pages on the wiki, which seems to be attributed to the files in each table. I can think of 2 solutions for this issue, one is creating a template for the file names that work similarly to the Template:MKT favored table row, though I'm not able to develop it due to lack of knowledge, while the other one is making the tables with the favourite and favoured drivers/karts/gliders (d/k/g) only show the new additions and the bumped up d/k/g to avoid repeating the same d/k/g every tour. Both options can also be implemented, but that has to be up to someone else to work on.
The latter option would look as follows:
Tour appearances of Course Variant
Tour | Cup | Course | New Favorite | Bumped to Favorite | New Favored | Bumped to Favored | ||||||||
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Drivers | Karts | Gliders | Drivers | Karts | Gliders | Drivers | Karts | Gliders | Drivers | Karts | Gliders | |||
Tour Name | Cup Icon | First/Second/Third | Driver Icons | Kart Icons | Glider Icons | ... | ... | ... | ... | ... | ... | ... | ... | ... |
Note: Tour appearance descriptions will be at the top of each section and Bonus Challenges will be on a table at the bottom of each section
This is not on the proposals page I feel as though it does not fulfil rule 15 "Unless there is major disagreement about whether certain content should be included, there should not be proposals about creating, expanding, rewriting or otherwise fixing up pages" because this is more of an explanation of the changes that I will be making.
I am open to suggestions, so let me know either here or on my talk page. I will start implementing this format on newer courses in the coming days. I would also appreciate any help in performing the change, but also in maintaining the format for future tours and courses. LemonJuice

I prefer the previous format more. It looks more organized. I also agree with the points that Mario jc (talk) said in his edit summary. Also, what does new favorite and favored mean? WildWario (talk) 08:22, August 18, 2022 (EDT)
I agree that the new format will make information from the same tour far away from each other, which can make the page look less organised, so I am fine with reverting the changes. However, the issue of tour appearance pages being very long will not be resolved unless a template is used, though it may still be an issue in the long run, as seen with the Lists of favored and favorite courses. I won't make any further changes or revert the changes yet.
The new favorite and favored refer to the new drivers/karts/gliders that are added during that tour, so old drivers/karts/gliders that have the course as favorite or favored do not have to be repeated.LemonJuice

- I agree with WildWario massively here, the previous format was way easier to read because it was much more organized. Additionally, with the articles for courses now being merged, we could be seeing up to 16 completely separate sections, all potentially going into detail about the same few tours. I do not think anyone had a problem with the original layout, and i certainly know that majority of the people reading these articles (people looking them up casually) do not care if the pages are considered too long because of how many images are on them. as such, i believe it should be reverted back, as it doesn't just cause inconvenience for all of us, but it also makes the pages physically longer in terms of how much scrolling is required, it also overcomplicates it, creates way too many separate sections, headings, etc. and it fixes a single issue that majority of users don't even have a problem with. - RSM 13:50, August 19, 2022 (EDT)
