I think Toby Fox (the creator of Deltarune and Undertale) generally really got inspired by Super Paper Mario. The similarities between Super Paper Mario and Undertale/Deltarune can't possibly all be a coincidence. Both games include:

1. A nerdy lizard 2. Special humor for video game standards 3. Many different game genres 4. Sadistic villains 5. Great plot 6. Different colored hearts which are very important to story 7. Female figures which help the protagonist and have a name which makes a pun on "tutorial" and "tip" 8. Money-loving creepy spider girls

The reasons listed above were just a few of the most obvious ones. I'm very confident in saying Toby Fox got a lot of inspiration from Super Paper Mario. ☆Scarlet Pairo☆ Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! talk 10:01, October 18, 2021 (EDT)
