Template:Infobox Mario Golf: Super Rush is an upcoming installment in the Mario Golf series, set to be the sixth installment overall in the series.[1] First announced during a Nintendo Direct broadcast on February 17, 2021, the game will be released for the Nintendo Switch on June 25, 2021. The game introduces a variety of features, including several new modes such as Speed Golf, as well as a Story Mode involving Miis.[2]

Gameplay

The player is allowed to analyze and examine the entirety of the course before swinging. Both sand traps and water hazards appear as obstacles of different settings and terrains. Available golf terrains include grasslands, a desert, and a rainy forest. The hole number, par number, yard amount, and wind speed are all provided during a swing. A shot gauge is also provided, allowing the player to see how their shot will be affected by slopes. A scan also shows the distance and elevation of the hole. Both button controls and motion controls may be used.[2]

In Speed Golf, players take shots constantly and must race to their ball each time it is hit, continuing this until it is put into the hole. Items along the way may help the player.[2]

In Story Mode, the player plays as their Mii, starting with a basic amount of experience, winning experience points by participating in battles and upgrading their stats, such as Power (how far the ball can be driven), Stamina (how long the player can dash), Speed (how fast the player can run), Control (how straight the player can hit the ball), and Spin (how much the player can spin/shape shots), including upgrading their Lead Rank. In the overworld, the player can interact with several familiar characters of the Mushroom Kingdom, such as Goomba and Hammer Bro.[2]

Playable characters

Much like Mario Tennis Aces and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, characters wear specific outfits for golfing.[2]

Quotes

  • "Oh! You're done with your lesson already?" - Goomba[2]
  • "Do you want to take the Beginner Approach lesson?" - Hammer Bro[2]
  • "All right! We'll get started with a straightforward shot on flat ground using your approach wedge." - Hammer Bro[2]
