Italics
Hello! When writing game titles, they should be italicized, which is achieved by placing two apostrophes on either side of the title. For example Mario Party 8
creates Mario Party 8. Thanks! --TheFlameChomp (talk) 10:49, 5 October 2018 (EDT)
Please stop forgetting italics on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
There were multiple instances where you forgot since your last reminder. Please remember this as it's an important wiki editing guideline. Mario JC 09:19, 15 October 2018 (EDT)
Also, please write the full names, never abbreviations. Mario JC 05:49, 8 December 2018 (EST)
Writing
Hey, please avoid this style of informal, unencyclopedic style of writing on the wiki. When you write, it must be kept formal and informative (basically, you don't want to sound like you're casually talking to the reader, e.g. "Nintendo knows you're sneaky [...]"). Please also remember that we don't write in first- or second-person, so avoid using the word "you", and use "the player" or the character's name where necessary, or any other substitute that's suitable within the context. See MarioWiki:Good writing for more information on the style of writing we expect when editing on articles. Mario JC 22:43, 19 November 2018 (EST)
This includes colloquialisms, like "kind of", as well. Mario JC 19:00, 5 December 2018 (EST)
Rewrite template
Hello, regarding your recent edit, the correct template for your edit would be the rewrite-expand template. The information about how to add and use this template is listed here. Thanks! Doomhiker (talk) 10:42, 23 December 2018 (EST)
"You"
Hi, just letting you know that in article prose, no "you"s are allowed; just use "the player" or the character's name, or in this case, substitute "that you cannot play" with "that cannot be played". Thanks! (T|C) 23:57, 2 March 2019 (EST)
Editing reminders
Reminders/warnings are serious matters and not meant to be messed around with, so please stop doing that. Mario JC 21:47, March 27, 2019 (EDT)
- This also means using them on your sandbox or userpage, or creating custom/fake warnings. Please read the rules on MarioWiki:Userspace. Mario JC 01:46, April 9, 2019 (EDT)
Grabyla is back
Did you create an account named Grabyla is back (talk)? Creating multiple accounts is not allowed, so if it belongs to you, since you still have access to this account (Bowser201), the new one will be blocked from access. Mario JC 03:30, March 31, 2019 (EDT)
Here's what my son said:
It was my friend. He came over for a playdate and I introduced him to this wiki. He looked at the block list and chose the username Grabyla is back, because the oldest known infinitely blocked user was Grablya (he misplaced the y and the l). He is one of my neighbors and we share IPs so Grabyla is back is not a sockpuppet of mine, in fact, he never edited it.Bowser201
It was not a sockpuppet. I just wondered how an admin would react to a user that was blocked 13 years ago and returned.
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Bowser201 (talk).
New stub articles
The page(s) you recently created (Playstation) has/have been put up for deletion, has been deleted, or turned into a redirect. This may be because it violated at least one of the policies and/or guidelines of the Super Mario Wiki. There are some things you can do to ensure this doesn't happen again.
If the article has only been tagged to be deleted you can still fix or expand it, but an administrator may delete it at any time, so please act quickly. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing! |

Moving files
After moving files and changing their names on the articles, please be sure to mark the old name for deletion with delete. Mario JC 07:32, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
Thanks for the info, I will next time. Bowser201 07:33, August 29, 2019 (EDT)
Show preview
Before hitting "Save page", use the "Show preview" next to it to see what the edit looks like. This lets you find and fix any mistakes before publishing the edit. Mario JC 02:44, March 13, 2020 (EDT)
IP editing
That's something you should ask Porplemontage (talk). Mario JC 21:15, April 27, 2020 (EDT)
- Thanks. I saw IPs mainly vandalize.
RE: OMG
I'm not him. They're common initials. Mario JC 22:10, May 3, 2020 (EDT)
Sorry for asking you that question, but thanks. Octoling Rendezvous 22:11, May 3, 2020 (EDT)
Also, before you sign, you need to create a signature page first with the code ( 201
), then go to your preferences and type in the "New signature" field (with "Treat signature as wikitext" checked). Mario JC 22:13, May 3, 2020 (EDT)
Fixed that. Octoling Rendezvous 22:16, May 3, 2020 (EDT)
Red link
Red links are not an issue on userpages. The policy is referring to users' comments on talk pages, where red links in proposals should be changed to fake link. Mario JC 06:25, May 4, 2020 (EDT)
Will do. Octoling Rendezvous
RE: Attacky Sack accounts
The accounts are from varying IPs but they're most definitely the same person using multiple IPs or a dynamic IP to create them. We're always user-checking and will do something if that were the case so don't worry about it. Mario JC 06:19, May 6, 2020 (EDT)
Thanks anyways JC. Octoling Rendezvous 06:21, May 6, 2020 (EDT)
Issuing reminders
Cool it with the reminders please. I've already explained this case, but regarding this, rather than issue a reminder off the bat, ask the user why they did it first. They likely made a mistake, meant to amend the caption or something else, but basically avoid issuing a reminder as someone does something wrong (especially for the first time it happens); at the very least, leave an informal reminder first and explain what they did wrong. You've likely read the policy so you should know that issuing undeserved reminders earns yourself a warning as well. Mario JC 22:25, May 10, 2020 (EDT)
- "If it's the user's first time creating that particular problem, give them the default template. In general, minor issues get reminders". That was minor. What is wrong about just giving them a reminder? Octoling Rendezvous 22:34, May 10, 2020 (EDT)
- The thing is it wasn't an issue. It's an easy correction that caused no real harm in the first place. It's an issue if it continues. 22:36, May 10, 2020 (EDT)
- Thanks. I will now leave simple messages the first time and reminders the second time. Sorry! Octoling Rendezvous 22:37, May 10, 2020 (EDT)
Koopaling artwork
I feel I need to explain this to you personally, but the reason the Koopaling's artworks have been changed is because they have traits that are only in New Super Mario Bros. U, the game the artwork is for. Any artwork with traits only for a specific game or series are not meant to be used for infoboxes, whereas the artwork for New Super Mario Bros. Wii is more consistent with other appearences. Ludwig, Iggy and Larry are fine with keeping their NSMBU artwork for infoboxes, but Wendy, Lemmy, Morton and Roy, as well as their group artwork, are better off with their NSMBW artwork. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 09:30, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
I never owned a Wii seeing through its lack of advantages compared to the PS3 and Xbox 360. I bought a Wii U at launch day but bought NSMBU instead of NSMBW because the copies of the Wii game were sold out, so I prefer U over Wii. Anyways, though, look at Toad. He is shown in his modern art with a red cap despite having a blue cap in other Super Mario games. Also, don't forget to italicize. Octoling Rendezvous 09:38, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
- Re. the Roy Koopa edit and adding to Mario's comment: character-infobox explains what images are usable. And formatting isn't required in talk comments. Mario JC 10:49, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
Toad only has a blue cap in Super Mario 3D World, and it seems to me you were changing them over personal bias. I'd like to have King Boo's design from Luigi's Mansion in his infobox, but because it's only used for one series, we can't. And it doesn't matter if I don't itacilise in the talk page. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 09:44, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
I didn't realise Toad's cap was blue in Super Mario Maker 2 as well, but those are the only two games Mario Sakuraba (talk) 09:45, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
And SMB2. Octoling Rendezvous 09:51, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
Funny enough, in SMB2 Toad's artwork has him with a red cap, and has a blue cap in his in-game sprite Mario Sakuraba (talk) 10:54, May 14, 2020 (EDT)

Image categories
Hello, Octoling Rendezvous. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: or Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Remember to categorise your uploads. Mario JC 10:49, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
Will do! Octoling Rendezvous 10:50, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
Articles need to have a category (and navigation template) too. No nav template exists for Origami King yet but articles still need a Category:Paper Mario: The Origami King category link (or a more specific one like Category:Paper Mario: The Origami King Characters if one is available). MarioWiki:Categories explains this in more detail. Mario JC 21:28, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
I was in a hurry because I wanted to create pages to improve the wiki. Octoling Rendezvous 21:38, May 14, 2020 (EDT)
- This applies to every article, including galleries. Don't forget about existing nav templates, either, so the The Origami King gallery should've had Category:Galleries and galleries on page creation. 01:52, May 15, 2020 (EDT)
I thought galleries did not have categories, as they do not have written info. Sorry! :| Octoling Rendezvous 01:53, May 15, 2020 (EDT)
Rename
Be patient, you shouldn't expect a rename as soon as you make a request. Mario JC 02:25, May 15, 2020 (EDT)
What I'm frustrated about is the fact that you received the message and the sign "You have a new message from another user (last change)" appears but you ignore it and just keep editing NSMBU pages. Now please can I have the rename? Octoling Rendezvous 02:27, May 15, 2020 (EDT)
- Sometimes we are busy occupied with other tasks on and even outside the wiki; there is no need to be so impatient. Mario JC 02:30, May 15, 2020 (EDT)
- Thank you SO much for renaming my account. Octoling Rendezvous 02:33, May 15, 2020 (EDT)

Talk page proposals
When you set up a talk page proposal, remember to use the TPP template and include it on the list of talk page proposals on MarioWiki:Proposals, otherwise it would be very difficult for users to find your proposal. -- Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 11:30, May 15, 2020 (EDT)

- Still. It's attacking him. Octoling Rendezvous 03:09, May 18, 2020 (EDT)
- It's "attacking" someone if it's deliberately targeting that user with malicious intent. It's obviously just a joke wiki, just ignore it. Mario JC 07:20, May 18, 2020 (EDT)
- He said that he was evil and this wiki has false info. Octoling Rendezvous 07:21, May 18, 2020 (EDT)
- Take a closer look around that wiki. I'm sure you'll find that we're not the ones with false information. It's a joke wiki, nothing they say holds any merit. 11:38, May 18, 2020 (EDT)

Chit-chat
Hellen Gravely and edit warring
The point you are making about Hellen Gravely in her true form isn't notable enough because she appears in both of her forms at least once before the battle starts, whereas Ug doesn't show his true form at all until the final phase of his battle. Two completely different ways. Also, you need to stop edit warring if your edits get reverted because it will flood recent changes and you'll get in trouble. If you feel your edit should be put back, set up a talk page and discuss it with others. Lastly, admins don't have to decide everything. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 08:49, May 30, 2020 (EDT)
- If you just discussed with me beforehand this wouldn't happen. You already are on a warning for cussing. Octoling Rendezvous 08:52, May 30, 2020 (EDT)
- That's why I'm trying to control myself on here, and I'd only discuss if with you if I feel it may lead to a big edit war or get out of hand. Anyway, do you still feel the same way? Mario Sakuraba (talk) 08:56, May 30, 2020 (EDT)
- Just keep in mind that if you. just stop, an edit war. will. not break out. 'Please stop. Octoling Rendezvous 09:06, May 30, 2020 (EDT)
- I wasn't going to do it without talking to you first, I don't plan on edit warring without resolving it, and you didn't answer my question. Are you trying to make me look bad and/or get me blocked? Mario Sakuraba (talk) 09:12, May 30, 2020 (EDT)
- NO. I told you that admins. will solve this. Octoling Rendezvous 09:14, May 30, 2020 (EDT)
- Mario Sakuraba already stated their reason, that is when you give yours or come to an agreement. Stubbornly demanding for admin intervention isn't the solution when you're capable of handling the matter yourself first. That said, what he said is correct: Hellen shows her true appearance before the battle, ergo this is not the same case as Ug. The difference is clear as day. If you even need to question it with "Does this even count?" then why add it? Also, "true appearance" seems to refer to different things here anyway: in Ug's (and afaik the other bosses') case, it's the ghost itself possessing the object; in Hellen's, it's literally just her true look.

- You've hardly made any changes to the table since it was removed (I've already made a suggestion here). As for the templates, I don't see them being necessary at all: For screenshot, a sprite/render isn't essential for every subject (if anything, just use more images) and not every subject is going to have artwork of it released; for inappropriate, we do not censor our content, not to mention it's unprofessionally written. Wikipedia
We don't use Wikipedia as a source or where to gather information from because like this website, anyone can edit it and even there things are sourced from other websites. And please provide good reasons other than "read Wikipedia" when reverting my edits 'cause maybe then I'd consider keeping it the way it is. Besides, I just read it and it doesn't even describe the Wii U as a commercial failure nor does it mention the Virtual Boy and N64DD. Mario Sakuraba (talk) 09:49, June 2, 2020 (EDT)
