- The Mario Kart: Double Dash!! iteration of Rainbow Road is the first Rainbow Road to have a "glistening" sound effect when a racer is drifting or making a sharp turn. This has become a common feature in subsequent versions of the track, including the remakes.
- In Super Mario Maker, on very rare occasions, when Mario falls into a pit, the death jingle is preceded by one of eight longer sound clips.
- Mario Party 10 is the first game in the Mario Party series to be given a 7+ age rating by PEGI as opposed to a 3+ rating, although this game was provisionally rated 3+ when announced at E3 2014.
- The Broodals sometimes make sounds similar to those made by Star Bunnies.
