- Mario Kart 8 (pictured) is the first and only Mario Kart game in which none of the courses shares the same background music.

- In the Club Nintendo comic The Hunt For Happiness, newborn Yoshis are stated to be 1.3 meters tall and bright enough to be seen in the darkness up to 50 meters away.
- World 9 in Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and New Super Mario Bros. Wii) are the only two playable worlds in the Mario side-scrolling games to not include a true castle level.
