Gringills are large Eal-like enemies in Super Mario Galaxy. They first appear in the Beach Bowl Galaxy, and later appear in the Drip Drop Galaxy. They can be killed, by throwing a Koopa Shell at them, while under the water. They attack simply by trying to eat the Player, similar to how Bubba attacks. the Player, in Super Mario 64.
