Proper nouns
When naming proper nouns (names of characters, enemies etc.), please remember to capitalise them, so "boo" or "bowser" must be written as "Boo" or "Bowser." Thanks and keep contributing. Mario JC 07:41, 13 October 2018 (EDT)
Additionally, avoid writing in second-person (using the word "you") on articles; we write in third-person, so we use "the player" or the character's name instead. Try to also avoid run-on sentences as well (using a comma to separate two independent clauses), so in this case as an example, "Hearts are replaced by Poison Mushrooms, you can still get hearts by catching two or more ghosts." should be written as, "Hearts are replaced by Poison Mushrooms. The player can still get hearts by catching two or more ghosts." Mario JC 19:07, 14 October 2018 (EDT)
Please stop not capitalising proper nouns on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
Please remember to capitalise names as I've explained above (like "King Boo"); writing all words in lowercase is not proper grammar. Mario JC 19:03, 17 November 2018 (EST)
Understandable, i do my very best to just either make or fix things, i'm not much into these edits and i don't do very well like you guys, i know i made too many edits the past few weeks since im not very good, but anyways i'll keep on trying to remember these things that is important with grammar and capitalising, good day. -MarioGamerFan24
Italics
One other thing: please keep in mind that game titles must be formatted in italics. So for Mario & Luigi: Dream Team, it's written as Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. The formatting is simple: two apostrophes before and after the name: Mario & Luigi: Dream Team
Mario JC 06:53, 30 November 2018 (EST)
Run-on sentences
Once again, please avoid run-on sentences as I explained above like you did in this bullet point. This was all one sentence, with only commas used to separate different pieces of information, which is improper grammar. In cases like these, you need to start new sentences and use periods / full stops to separate independent clauses. I recommend reading through the Wikipedia page I linked to you above. Mario JC 20:15, 1 December 2018 (EST)
Just so you get the hang of this:
Gooigi can also vibrate when Luigi is near a door and enters a room where a Boo is hidden. The closer Luigi is to the Boo, the more Gooigi vibrates.
Players have ten minutes to take down Boolossus. To defeat him when he throws bombs out, players must launch them at his mouth to explode him into Boos.
These should be two different sentences. A tip would be whenever you decide to use a comma, just use a period whenever possible, unless it absolutely doesn't make sense as separate sentences. Mario JC 10:00, November 2, 2019 (EDT)
Very well lad, I am improving editing a bit more slightly, but there may have been some slips that can be easy for me to miss at times. I'll be much more careful now. MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 18:38, November 2, 2019 (EDT)
Another one is:
Achievements reappear in Luigi's Mansion 3 serving a similar role. They come in four categories: [...]
I know this is bothersome but I'm just trying to help you avoid this. Mario JC 23:33, November 2, 2019 (EDT)
All good lad, the more I know and avoid this, the better. MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 03:12, November 3, 2019 (EST)
Warning
This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (not capitalising proper nouns) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site. If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
As you're familiar with the Mario series, you should know that names for most characters, games, consoles etc. need to be capitalised, especially after you were reminded twice. There's some improvement in your sentence structure, but please remember this rule as well; it's not difficult, and while I shouldn't need to mention bad grammar again, forgoing this for links can lead to broken links. If you don't know, you can always check the rest of the article, other articles, or through the search function. Mario JC 21:59, 20 December 2018 (EST)
- Basically if it's a name for something, its first letter is a capital letter, like "Mario", "Nintendo" or an enemy like "Ukiki". So a common light "switch" isn't capitalised, but the console "Switch" is. Don't take it as a discouragement; I'm just trying to help you improve. Mario JC 23:36, 20 December 2018 (EST)
Images
Hello, MarioGamerFan24. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly use the aboutfile template. What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. The pre-loaded syntax is shown below. Just replace the necessary parts with that corresponding information, and remove the entire line for the parameter(s) you don't use. Please consider the above information before uploading more files. If you continue using aboutfile incorrectly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Hello, MarioGamerFan24. Good job on your recent uploads, but when uploading files, keep in mind that you must correctly categorize the file. It's simple to learn how to do so. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups:
When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the aboutfile template, replacing the uncategorized template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: or Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Keep in mind that some files can belong to multiple categories. Do not put images into the media files category, or vice versa. If you continue uploading files without categorizing them correctly, then a warning will be issued. Thank you for reading, and keep contributing. |
Hello, thanks for your uploads, however, you need to categorize your uploads, for example an Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island image would need the code:
. Also, you need to use the aboutfile to describe the subject of the image, your source of the image, etc when uploading, and finally, you need to remember to apply a licence to the uploaded image when uploading. Thanks! Doomhiker (talk) 14:30, 27 December 2018 (EST)
Please remember to add the appropriate licence and category to your uploads, otherwise you may receive another warning. If you're uploading directly from the editor (the image icon at the top of the text box), you would add the following along with the summary:
==Licensing== game-screenshot
Though I recommend using Special:Upload as it's easier. Mario JC 20:49, May 15, 2019 (EDT)
Ah I see, only assumed editing options would work best but, that'll do, for next time MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 21:06, May 16, 2019 (EDT)
This again. Images need a license and image category as I've done here (for the license, you just select from the "Licensing" drop-down menu). Please try to remember these things, you shouldn't need to be reminded every time (for instance, you forgot a navigation template and category again on Rooftop (Luigi's Mansion 3).) Mario JC 22:43, November 9, 2019 (EST)
- I'd assume I would have got everything but there is some difference between using mobile to desktop, the next time I do this I should switch to desktop while using mobile purposes. And I will also have to check on how to do the category labels as well, if I ever made another mistake or forget to do this again, I'll accept any punishment you can give, I can understand you are getting tired and probably mad of reminding me every time I messed up and I should have been able to be much more better than before when I first joined. Maybe one day there might be some few improvements for mobile users although I might be wrong about it. I'll probably forget about editing if its the last straw I messed up on something. Brawl Attacks
Could you provide a reference for the new name for Bowser's Special Attacks if it's true? So far the remake has only been released in Japan. Mario JC 06:46, 3 January 2019 (EST)
Unrelated, but for the Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story / Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story + Bowser Jr.'s Journey headers you're doing, please use a forward slash /
instead of a vertical bar |
. Mario JC 06:51, 3 January 2019 (EST)
I have made a video about it, showcasing the name change: https://youtu.be/Yj5ivwl6AO8 MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 03:53, 5 January 2019 (EST)
On that note: this was from the manual like I mentioned the other day, but haven't been more specific with evidence. MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 03:57, 5 January 2019 (EST)
You're still using the vertical bar to separate the original and remake's titles for section headers. We use the forward slash, not a vertical bar. Mario JC 21:23, 16 January 2019 (EST)
It was somewhat hard to figure out which one to use, but very well. MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 22:05, 16 January 2019 (EST)
Removing comments
Regarding your recent edit you removed your talk page comment. Please remember that you cannot remove your comments which is why I undone your edit. Thanks. Doomhiker (talk) 18:29, 14 February 2019 (EST)
My apologies, i was just seeing if it be easier to see things but, very well. Will keep that in mind next time, good day. MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 01:10, 15 February 2019 (EST)
Summaries
No need to constantly make edits with summaries saying "Revert if needed"; just use your best judgement. If there's definitely something worth informing in what you're adding, we welcome it! Also, we cover pre-release and unused content for a lot of games, so filling in that gap for a game that doesn't already have a section/page for it is encouraged. The talk page is always there if you're having strong doubts about anything. Mario JC 08:59, 9 March 2019 (EST)
Very well, I will keep that in mind if something bothers me, just wanting to be on the safe side if I made some minor mistakes or grammar errors. For now have a good day. MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 09:03, 9 March 2019 (EST)
"Its" versus "It's"
Hi, just letting you know that, in case you get confused again, "its" is a gender-free singular possessive pronoun, while "it's" is short for "it is". Please keep this in mind, otherwise you may start seeing warnings pertaining to the matter. Thanks! (T|C) 02:16, April 1, 2019 (EDT)

New stubs
One or more pages that you have recently created have been deleted or marked as a stub article (Stone (object)). Please consider the following ideas and suggestions when expanding/creating an article:
|
Letting you know of this now as this is the third time you created a stub article. Please consider the above when starting a new page. Mario JC 03:03, June 30, 2019 (EDT)
Your articles also lack a navigation template and categories. When you get the chance, you should go over the Manual of Style when making another article; there's also no harm in looking at other level articles to get an idea of how one should be written or using it as a template (as a suggestion, you can add a layout summary and enemy list). Mario JC 00:38, July 3, 2019 (EDT)
Please stop not following the Manual of Style (categories; navigation template; italics) on the Super Mario Wiki. This isn't a warning, and it's possible that you made a mistake by accident or without realizing it; this is simply a reminder for your information. If the action continues, then a warning will be issued. Thanks for reading and keep contributing. If you feel this reminder was undeserved, you may appeal it. |
Your previous two articles lacked categories / navigation templates before they were added later by other users as well as italics for game titles for the latter, after you were reminded twice already about reading over the Manual of Style. A number of users came in to fix it up but it's important to know these yourself. Please follow the Manual of Style carefully when starting up your article. Mario JC 21:43, July 24, 2019 (EDT)
I guess I didn't even think clearly when trying to make a article, I should have done that before making them. I must remind myself if I ever make another in the future. MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 13:38, July 25, 2019 (EDT)
Please remember navigation templates and categories for new articles. I really don't think a warning over this is necessary now but you might not be let off if this happens again considering you've been told three times already. Mario JC 06:08, November 4, 2019 (EST)
I didn't think three times as much, my memory can fade at times forgetting what is needed each time if I ever created another page, I was worried if I put another stub or something in the page. I'm probably overthinking too much, My apologies lad. MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 17:47, November 4, 2019 (EST)
- That's why your talk page is here. Just remember to check it (or ask) if you ever forget something.
- Also, if this is the only glitch that's going to be on the page, I should let you know it should just be kept as a section on the main game page rather than on a separate page. A glitch page should only be necessary if such a section becomes excessively long. Mario JC 19:13, November 4, 2019 (EST)
- I understand, I will hope to keep that in memory to remind myself the next time another game is released and/or if more glitches are discovered, but only time will tell for now. MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 20:17, November 4, 2019 (EST)
RE: More info about Run-On sentences?
There's the Wikipedia page I linked to above, and also: Comma splice, which is the more specific error actually. You can also find some material through Google like on Grammarly. Mario JC 20:54, November 5, 2019 (EST)
