I always thought those Gray Coins were Silver Coins. Can anyone support one or the other with sources? -- Son of Suns

Well, nothing super official, but TMK[1] seems to think they're silver coins. Monty Mole 15:35, 6 September 2006 (EDT)
Silver would make sense, as the other coins are gold.... -- Son of Suns

The correct name is "POW-Switch".--Bowser the Shredder 11:12, 18 April 2009 (EDT)

That's FuSoYa's name he gave them in Lunar Magic.--Sticklyman (talk) 09:15, 25 August 2012 (EDT)

Shouldn't this be moved to Switch Block if that's its name in the most recent games? Pseudo-dino 13:23, 28 June 2011 (EDT)

Split P Switch, Gray P Switch, and Switch Block (Mario & Wario)

Template:SettledTPP Template:ProposalOutcome They appear differently, have different function, and were named differently, as the Gray P Switch uses an identifier in Japanese.

Split P Switch and Gray P Switch

Split P Switch and Switch Block (Mario & Wario)

Split all

  1. FanOfYoshi (talk)Per.
  2. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) Indubitably. They're different things, having them together like this with the "effects" list is rather clunky.
  3. Scrooge200 (talk) Per all.
  4. Alex95 (talk) - Per all.
  5. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per all.
  6. WeirdDave13 (talk) Per all.
  7. Niiue (talk) Per all.
  8. Mario Kart DS Fan (talk) Per all.
  9. rollerC (talk) Per all.

#Toadette the Achiever (talk) The differences are apparent and drastic enough to split both. (The Switch Block from M&W especially functions more like Beep Blocks than like P Switches.)

Leave them all merged

Comments

Yeah, normal P Switches are blue, have an orange rim in this game, and only turn coins into blocks, and used blocks into coins, and Gray P Switches, as their name implies they are gray. They have a pink rim, and turn enemies into coins. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 13:30, 8 October 2018 (EDT)

Wouldn't it be better if this was a multi-option proposal? You know, if someone only wants one or the other split? Toadette icon from Captain Toad: Treasure TrackerFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 13:44, 8 October 2018 (EDT)
Not bad! --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 13:45, 8 October 2018 (EDT)
I will change the name of the section, and adding a new one! --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 13:46, 8 October 2018 (EDT)
What do you mean by that? Toadette icon from Captain Toad: Treasure TrackerFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 13:48, 8 October 2018 (EDT)
I'd say that we need both a sprite of the Switch Block from Mario & Wario, and a Japanese name for it (if it does have one). --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 11:51, 9 October 2018 (EDT)
A few Switch Block sprites from Mario & Wario. <-These are M&W Switch Blocks. Given that's a JP-only game and other objects from it have confirmed names, it's likely a legitimate Japanese name. While there is a possibility they were intended to be the same object tweaked heavily for gameplay at a time when their design wasn't as set-in-stone, it's not a high enough possibility in my opinion without further evidence. They're probably intended as different things entirely, particularly given the different function. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 06:38, 10 October 2018 (EDT)
However, it is true that the Gray P Switch just a redirect for this page, and wasn't an actual article before. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 03:40, 10 October 2018 (EDT)
Yeah, these Switch Blocks differ drastically from the normal P Switch. Let's see what Waluigi Time thinks about it. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 12:21, 10 October 2018 (EDT)
I mean about the Gray P Switch since those from Mario & Wario ressemble creatures inside boxes because of their eyes. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 12:36, 10 October 2018 (EDT)
Well, i realized that Fluffin' Puffin weren't maybe intended to be the same thing as Huffin-Puffins, i think they should all be split. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 12:19, 11 October 2018 (EDT)
If anything else, is this the only Wiki that has proposals between splitting, rennaming and mergeing? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 07:41, 17 October 2018 (EDT)

Split Trample Switch?

Seeing as how Super Mario 3D World has these particular switches, which function differently in that they require two bodies to be on two respective switches for an effect to occur, should we necessarily split them out? Toadette icon from Captain Toad: Treasure TrackerFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 01:43, 8 March 2019 (EST)

Interesting scenario... I'm not too sure how to proceed either. What's the Japanese name? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 03:24, April 28, 2019 (EDT)
Could you upload a scan of the Prima guide to be more specific on what is the Trample Switch? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi at 01:48, April 29, 2019 (EDT)

Just like Gray P Switch before it, except now it's referring to the P Switch variation debuting in 3D World that requires multiple characters/objects at once to activate. I thought about splitting this out already, but then decided on making a proposal about it in case there were any second thoughts.
