Joining Question?
How exactly do I join this project. I don't fully understand how? (don't mock me). - Pokemon DP
- Well, this is why being member of a pipe project isn't such a big deal. Anyone can join by themselves. Just edit this page and add your name to the list, and you're a member. You don't get anything for being a member though. Pointless is you ask me.
- What's more important is that you actually work for the project's goals, and that's what you're doing already, isn't it? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 05:03, 31 May 2007 (EDT)
Special Moves Template?
Should there be a template for all special moves, too? There are templates for special moves for other games already. The problem is, SSBM has a total of 26 characters (including Sheik), which would be quite messy too handle with a template. What do you think? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 08:07, 2 June 2007 (EDT)
That would be a great idea. I was thinking about that myself. But, you should make seperate Templates that cover each characters attacks, instead of putting everyone into one Template. Or, you could split the Templates depending on what series they came from. Like, you could have one with Mario Bros. Series, with the original 4 characters, then underneath the 7 from Melee, but don't do Brawl yet. Just a few ideas. Tell me what you think about them - My Bloody Valentine
- I think it would be a bit confusing to split it into those slightly undefined parts. Also, I'm right now thinking only about a template for Melee. I guess we can make show-hide terms (as in {{Racecourses}}) to "shorten" the template a bit. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:58, 3 June 2007 (EDT)
- I guess so. Well, maybe you should just list it as e.g., Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, DK and then list all of their attacks from both games, and then under you list the next three new characters, Peach, Bowser and Dr. Mario and list their attacks. Would that be a bit "cleaner". - My Bloody Valentine
- It still would be a problem. You can't really define into which series you want to split. I mean, Mario series has 7 characters, Zelda has 5, Pokémon has 4 characters , all other have <= 2 characters, it would become unhandy creating templates for those "minor" ones. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 05:06, 3 June 2007 (EDT)
- Hmmm you do have a point. Well, I'm out of all but one idea. Just put all the original 12 characters on the top part of the Template, and put the extra 14 underneath. Just hope that you will be able to fit it in. If you can't fit character names, then just shorten them e.g. C. Falcon, or DK. - My Bloody Valentine
- Righto, I'll see what can be done. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 05:14, 3 June 2007 (EDT)
- I'd like to help you in anyway I can. Unfortunately, I do not know how to make a Template, but if there is anything I can help you with, please tell me. Super Smash Bros. Melee is my absolute FAVORITE game after all. - My Bloody Valentine
- Righto, I'll see what can be done. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 05:14, 3 June 2007 (EDT)

The Templates have been created - see Template:SSB Moves and Template:SSBM Moves. Anyone seeing a move article can add the right template to it. We also need to discuss how to handle Final Smashes. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 06:44, 3 June 2007 (EDT)
- OK, you need help on the Final Smashes. Hmm, my advice is not to worry about that until closer to Super Smash Bros. Brawl's release. We only know of one Officially named Final Smash, so why worry right now. Just wait and relax, you've done enough work on these two Templates. - My Bloody Valentine
Yoshi's Story stage

Help
Can I do the moves page? Just that the SSBM template doesn't work! --MarioBros777 00:13, 30 June 2007 (EDT)

can i help im new here vruet1 10:06 july 27 2007
- Welcome here! A little tip: when you want to sign on a talk page you can just type ~~~~. The tildes will be automatically changed to your username, a link to your page, and the time you posted. About help, you can always help! Nothing is holding you back putting your name on the members list on this page. The only work to do currently is watching smashbros.com's daily updates, and update the corresponding articles. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 11:25, 27 July 2007 (EDT)
Character infobox
I am working on an infobox for Smash Bros. characters. They should give a quick overview over the character's game appearances and special moves. It should also show a picture of the character and their emblem, which would also remove the emblem from the top of the page, which has been complained about justifiedly by ♥♪!? (talk). - Cobold (talk · contribs) 13:11, 19 July 2007 (EDT)
- The result can be seen here: {{SSB Infobox}} They would replace the emblems on the top of the pages. Should I start using them? - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:38, 19 July 2007 (EDT)
- Good job. The moves section on the page was a bit messy, but what is so wrong with the Emblems at the top of the page? Either way, good job, I say use them. All I need is your OK, and I will put them on the pages ;) My Bloody Valentine
Too Many Infoboxes
Isn't an infobox for each game mechanic of a secondary-importance series overdoing it? Wa TC@Y 22:33, 20 July 2007 (EDT)
- No, you just don't like Super Smash Bros. My Bloody Valentine
::Are you talking about {{SSB Infobox}} or the navigation templates? For the infobox, it just creates an overview over what we would otherwise say in the text in the article. The special moves, the picture etc. would all be there anyway. And there has been a complaint about the emblems at the top of the pages. That's why I created the infobox. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:13, 21 July 2007 (EDT)
- Yeah. The Infobox is good, leave it alone. Cobold did a good job on it, so leave it as is. My Bloody Valentine
::If you were talking about the navigation templates, I suggest you to have a look on {{Yoshi}}, {{Yoshi series}}, {{YoshiLevels}}, {{Yoshis}}, {{Yoshi Story}} and the likes. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:20, 21 July 2007 (EDT)
- And, looking at your Importance Policy, it does not matter in terms of "overdoing" what importance a series has:
There are no penalities for making articles in one series than another. However, we do encourage more editing in the primary focus articles than the secondary focus articles, as this is the Super Mario Wiki. Also, there are no article limits for any area of focus.
Okay, forget it. Just saw {{SSB Item Infobox}}. Whoever created that might have done a good job adding them to the Formatting Templates category. Are there others around, too? I'll have to check that. That IS exceeding what I had in mind. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:31, 21 July 2007 (EDT)
- Uh... Knife made the Item and Stage Infobox. My Bloody Valentine
- OK, OK, I agree with that. My Bloody Valentine
Sorry that I didn't specify, but that's the issue, we're getting into the gritty details that are better in an article than an infobox, because that leaves the article with little else to comment on. Wa TC@Y 12:46, 21 July 2007 (EDT)
Stage Names
Should we keep the Stages names as it is, or change them to, for example, these:
- Hyrule: Temple
- Mushroom: Kingdom
- Eagleland: Onett
- Planet Zebes: Brinstar
Those are the actual names of the stages, according to SSBM, so, should we change them? My Bloody Valentine
- The MediaWiki software has problems with the :, as far as I remember. We don't need to be super-accurate. It's ok to shorten them in my opinion. The game does it itself on the random stages select screen. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:43, 28 July 2007 (EDT)
- OK. I wonder how Smashwiki uses the ":" then. Anyway, yeah, it would probably look stupid writing it as "Mushroom: Kingdom". OK, thanks. My Bloody Valentine
IMPORTANT QUESTION!
The characters like Shy Guys, Peppy Hare and others works att non-playable characters? Mr. Game & Watch
So...
For this to be finished, Brawl has to have revealed everything, correct? 03:17, 15 August 2007 (EDT)
Melee Attacks
Yeah, so I looked through my old SSBM guide and found that every attack used by a character, not just the B ones, are named; so, should something be done about this or what? -- Sir Grodus
- Really? GIVE ME ALL THE NAMES, PLEASE!!! :P Sorry, please tell me some of the names, I've been trying to find this for ages My Bloody Valentine
Here's Bowser's moves:

It also gives damage statistics. -- Sir Grodus
- That sounds like Bowser's moves alright :P They sound awesome, but, making articles on each A move might be a bit much. Hmm... Let's see what others think. My Bloody Valentine
I agree. -- Sir Grodus
- I HAVE A GREAT IDEA!!! SmashWiki is full of this stuff (I love that Wiki :)) Why don't we put a link to it. For example, put on Pikachu's page an external link to his articles on SmashWiki. We shouldn't focus on A Moves, but they can. What do you think? My Bloody Valentine
- Can you give an example link? I'd rather check the quality of this SmashWiki first. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:53, 17 August 2007 (EDT)
- OK, here. This is Ness's bios from Melee. Please tell me how good it is. My Bloody Valentine While your at it, you should join :P I might join it soon.
- Can you give an example link? I'd rather check the quality of this SmashWiki first. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 04:53, 17 August 2007 (EDT)
So, did we ever find a solution to this? -- Sir Grodus
- No, Cobold never responded. My Bloody Valentine COBOLD, RESPOND!!!!
Well, they definately should not be linked out of this wiki. They could become articles if someone were to put some real effort into them. Otherwise they can just be listed in the SSB section of character articles. It is very interesting SSB trivia at the very least. -- Son of Suns
Question about the moves
We need a page for each especial move? That looks better and more complete in the character page.
Ps: What happens with Air Pump and Sword Slash?-- Mr.Game and Watch 14:21, 11 September 2007 (EDT)
- The wiki's creator, Porplemontage, (or at least I guess it was him) decided that there are special articles on the wiki covering special moves. See the sidebar. Special moves are a separate section on the wiki and each can have a special article. However, Air Pump and Sword Slash were conjecturally named and not totally special moves to qualify for an article. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:25, 11 September 2007 (EDT)
Super Smash Bros. Melee Art
Well, this is another character art but... what's better?-- Mr.Game and Watch 21:46, 19 September 2007 (EDT)
- The other one. It has a similar background to the rest of the artwork, and it is the same size, so it fits better than this one does. My Bloody Valentine
- I think this one looks nicer. And that isn't really artwork that much, this is true artwork. 06:11, 23 September 2007 (EDT)
- Er, this artwork was ripped off of the other artwork we have. Which means, the other one we have is official, not this one. My Bloody Valentine
Removing Finished Stuff
This page is so long... we've finished almost everything, most things that are not crossed out should be, unless they're in Brawl. I'm going to remove all the finished stuff.
Emblem information
As we now have the characters' emblems in the {{SSB Infobox}}, I don't think we need Trivia items or statements about the characters' emblems any more. I think they are too minor to take note of, especially when they're already shown as images. - Cobold (talk · contribs) 14:28, 11 October 2007 (EDT)
- OK. My Bloody Valentine
- I thought it was useful info, seeing that people may not know what a Triforce is. --Trogga 03:27, 22 October 2007 (EDT)
- It's just an emblem. Not that important. My Bloody Valentine
- I wasn't trying to bring the emblem info back; I was just voicing my personal opinion. --Trogga 03:52, 22 October 2007 (EDT)
