Bell Tree & adding its own page

Also, I noticed on the page above that the Bell Tree is added for the Super Mario 3D World theme. Someone should make a page for that and list Super Mario 3D World and Super Mario Maker 2 as including them. B700465189a9 (talk) 18:32, 13 February 2019 (EST)

I agree with this, though I don't think "Bell Trees" are their official names. Multiple articles call them "Beanpoles", but I don't know if that's their official name either. --RedShellNSMB.png BeingAwesom RedShellNSMB.png (talk · contribs) 21:05, 20 February 2019 (EST)
I researched a bit and found that they are referenced as 'Beanpoles' in level names, but never found them actually being referred to as such.B700465189a9 (talk)
Mount Beanpole, but it may not be referring to the trees. It could just be saying it's a tall and skinny mountain. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:59, 20 February 2019 (EST)
After looking at the Japanese name, you're right. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 03:48, 21 February 2019 (EST)
Exactly. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:56, 21 February 2019 (EST)
What is the Japanese name? Currently the now-created Bell Tree does not have a 'Names in other languages' section. B700465189a9 (talk) 09:59, 3 March 2019 (EST)

Series Page

Considering the fact that the 2 games in the series (3 counting ports) shouldn't a Super Mario Maker series Page be created? Fawful (talk) 19:36, 13 February 2019 (EST)

They're part of the Super Mario series. I'd say it might deserve it, but so does the New Super Mario Bros. subseries. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:38, 13 February 2019 (EST)

"Circus" Theme

Hello, and what a Moe-rvelous Mario Moe-ker 2 announcement we had today! I noticed on the wiki page that one of the confirmed themes is listed as being "Circus", presumably from the scene with the Banzai Bills at 1:10 (in the official Nintendo video). I believe that this is a little bit Moe-sleading. The correct theme title, I think, would be "Night", for Moe-ltiple reasons. Reason one is that the "circus" theme is not a recurring theme in many Mario games (really only Super Mario 3D World). However, night is a recurring theme which was not included in the original Super Mario Maker. I believe that the circus aesthetic was simply applied to the "Night" theme, as the two often coexisted in levels such as Spiky Spike Bridge, Footlight Lane, and, obviously, World Bowser itself. Reason two is that at 1:14 in the same video, the "Night" theme is shown in the New Super Mario Bros. U style, with no circus in sight. Reason three, which may tie in to reason two, is that at 0:43 in the video, the winter theme is shown in the New Super Mario Bros. U style as well... but strangely it takes place during the daytime, per New Super Mario Bros. Wii. Why would they change it... unless they wanted to differentiate the "Night" theme from the winter theme? After all, the constellations at 1:14 are taken right from the sky of World 4 of NSMBU. Obviously, the trailer hasn't even been out a day, and so Moe-ch is still left in conjecture. None of this is proven. Plus, there are a few things which might make me reconsider. The platforms and conveyor belt at 1:10 do look awfully "circus-y", and there were some Moe outwardly "night-y" themes in Super Mario 3D World, like in Puffprod Peaks or Super Galaxy. Maybe this is a new "Sky" theme outside of the airships, or "Fog", or maybe even each game style will have one unique theme! There's no way of knowing! But as of now, a better guess seems to be the "Night" theme. Thus, I have made that edit. Anyone who wishes to dispute may, but these are my reasons. Thanks for reading, MOSES THE MOE-EYE --Moe-Eye (talk) 21:13, 14 February 2019 (EST)

I would actually say the theme falls under the Airship category. These stages were always in the sky, after all, and additionally, if one analyzes the footage closely, there's a slight bob to the camera completely unrelated to Mario's movement. This camera behavior is an infamous behavior for the Airship theme in the original game, so it seems much more likely to fall under that category. --MissingNumbers (talk) 13:54, 6 March 2019 (EST)
You might be right, as a Moe-tter of fact. Although it would seem quite odd. The theme in question looks quite like a circus, or maybe a train level, and that would be an odd choice to approximate for the airship theme. After all, most of the other themes would carry over quite well between game styles - underground to underground, jungle to jungle, desert to desert, and so on... but wouldn't it be a little strange to have it so that the airship theme looked like an airship in all of the first four styles, and then, randomly, like a strange circus loco-Moe-tive in the last? Making an airship shape in the other styles and then translating it to Super Mario 3D World style would throw everything off! Why not use a tank level theme or maybe even refurbish the airship theme from Super Mario 3D Land? Anyway, the airship theme is still there, as per the Super Mario Bros.-style clip in the trailer, and there Moe-st certainly is a night theme, as per my above paragraph, so the point seems to be moot for now. I guess we'll just have to wait until the game comes out! But I appreciate the feedback - I see your point, and it very well might be the case. Thanks for the critique - and, yeah, good eye with the camera! Until June, MOSES THE MOE-EYE --Moe-Eye (talk) 21:51, April 20, 2019 (EDT)
it is not confirmed if there will be a night theme for all we know there will be a day/night toggle Wild starfish (talk) 20:06, April 27, 2019 (EDT)

Chain-Link Uncertainty

The current listing on the page suggests that Chain-Links were added to the course creator, but the only object that most closely resembles it looks more like a semi-solid platform to me. It seems more likely that the Cat power-up has the ability to scale up semi-solid platforms as if they were walls. Does anyone have objections to this adjustment? --MissingNumbers (talk) 23:33, 14 February 2019 (EST)

I'd say wait until we have more information regarding that. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 23:51, 14 February 2019 (EST)
Wild starfish (talk) I'd add "uncertain", "possibly" or "unconfirmed" after the listing for chain-link

Coin Totals

I highly doubt that the "4/100" coin thing is the total amount of coins in the level. It is much more likely to be an objective, considering we can see the same number next to a "goal"-like symbol. So, it's probably the number of coins needed to beat the level. WarioLandGoldPiramid (talk) 12:21, 15 February 2019 (EST)

Person who added the gameplay section here: I never stated in the article that it was the total amount of coins in the level, only "out of a specific number". Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:12, 16 February 2019 (EST)

Colored pipes

While it's true that we can see a red pipe, both in the trailer and in the artwork, here's one thing worth mentioning: the red pipes seemed to be generating enemies more frequently than a green pipe would. So, it is possible that green and red are the only available colors, and that it's only meant for choosing the speed of generating enemies. WarioLandGoldPiramid (talk) 12:21, 15 February 2019 (EST)

It's also possible you could set the rate of generating enemies yourself, and the color not having anything to do with it and just being a cosmetic choice. Though I do think we should list the colors that have been shown instead of assuming there will be "various colors". Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 08:12, 16 February 2019 (EST)

Castle Theme returning?

Since the Castle Theme isn't shown in the Nintendo Direct, will it make a return to the sequal? MarioGamerFan24 (talk) 14:49, 19 February 2019 (EST)

There were a lot of things from the first Mario Maker that they didn't show in the trailer. Being a series staple, I'm sure the castle theme will return. Marie costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 18:51, 19 February 2019 (EST)
I'm actually scared now that a "Sky" theme was introduced, the GameXplain video I showed you has the possibility of only 10 course themes. meaning that the Castle theme might be abandoned, which is very controversial. But then again, there could be more than 10. DatGoodHomie (talk) 12:03, April 30, 2019 (EDT)DatGoodHomie

Playing as other characters

With Super Mario 3d World where Mario was not the only playable character but with Luigi Peach and Rosalina, is there anything that says Luigi and others will be playable as well?--TheGreenBeetle (talk) 14:18, 23 February 2019 (EST)

Nothing has been currently said on wether or not the game will support multiplayer. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 14:21, 23 February 2019 (EST)
Ok, but its not just multiplayer, I asked if something said anything about P1 playing as other characters other than Mario in their map packs.--TheGreenBeetle (talk) 20:13, 23 February 2019 (EST)
Nothing has been said about playing as other characters either, even as a single player. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 21:11, 23 February 2019 (EST)
Techincally, nothing has been confirmed, but it's a safe assumption that at least Luigi's gonna be playable. After all, he has his builder outfit rockin' and the promo art shows Mario dumping Cat Luigi in the level. Of course, we'll still need it confirmed before adding it, even if it's a foregone conclusion.

"Bell Trees"

Aren't these called Beanpoles? I wanted to make this on the talk page of the object's page, but it wouldn't allow me to. My family has always called them Beanpoles, which I had always assumed was the official name, but I guess came from Mount Beanpole. Given Mt. Beanpole's sheer amount of these trees, however, I'd say it's a more logical name than just calling it a "Bell Tree". The name we have currently is conjectural, so i don't see a problem with changing to a more logical conjectural name. Although, hey, maybe I'm wrong. But I personally just think Beanpole is better than just "Bell Tree". 72.133.91.93 16:10, 23 February 2019 (EST)Blueflame105

This was already talked about in a discussion on this talk page. Doomhiker (talk)Artwork of a Topmini from Super Mario Galaxy 16:12, 23 February 2019 (EST)
Anyways, it was decided that "beanpole" most likely referred to the mountain's shape, as "beanpole" is a slang for a tall and skinny person, and matches up fairly well with the Japanese name for the level. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:16, 23 February 2019 (EST)

Suprised nobody noticed this

There was a small change visible as early as the first frame of gameplay. As pointed out here, they got rid of the ground break seperating the starting platform and the rest of the level from Super Mario 1, so that should probably be noted somewhere. (And good fucking riddance, too, that thing always looked weird). A few other changes noticed here too (the camera may be one block higher, but we should probably wait for more gameplay before adding that.)

Charts

Should we have a chart for the course elements? One column could have the name, then next 5 could have the icons of the items in each game style (Elements that don't appear in a certain game style could be marked N/A; any confirmed item that hasn't had its icon shown can use a picture from gameplay or the artwork poster as a placeholder), then the last column could be for Notes (like "Alternate form of Piranha Plant", "Become Jumping Piranha Plants in the Super Mario World style", or "Can be placed in foreground or background." etc.) Should we go with this? PrPro03 (talk) 09:54, March 24, 2019 (EDT)Prpro=03

I'm not sure if the current filling in of the chart is a good idea. SMM didn't typically have the same palettes to the originals (though admittedly SMB and SMB3's palettes irl depended on TV specifications), so there's nothing proving so far that the graphics in this game will have the same palettes as in SMM, potentially leaving them inaccurate after launch. Wings and Parachutes as modifiers

Currently, Wings and Parachutes are in the currently uncategorized section. However, it is shown that they are applied to objects using a menu outside of the grouped wheels. Should they be moved to a section for modifiers? Additionally, modifiers could include the Super Mushroom and Fire Flower as the Piranha Plant in Super Mario 3D World showed both. B700465189a9 (talk) 10:34, April 20, 2019 (EDT)

actually it's the fire piranha plant that you could get by shaking a piranha plant and not by giving it a fire flower and I find it unlikely that all enemies (except lakitu because you couldn't make it big with a mushroom) would get a fire form Wild starfish (talk) 20:12, April 27, 2019 (EDT)
Shaking doesn't appear in Super Mario Maker 2. Additionally, it seems that the large modifier is achieved through the new menu rather than via Super Mushroom and I jumped to conclusions by saying that the Fire Flower or fire in general was a modifier, as it was on the first row which seems to be for alternate forms. Also, if I remember correctly, not all objects could get Wings in the original Super Mario Maker. B700465189a9 (talk) 15:21, April 29, 2019 (EDT)

New content shown in japanese trailer by gamexplain

The wiki should be updated with the new stuff shown in the japanese super mario maker 2 trailer updloaded by gamexplain.
