- Aron Tager (pictured), who voiced Cranky Kong in the Donkey Kong Country cartoon, passed away at the age of 84 on February 28, 2019.
- On February 28, 2019, Kamek and Dry Bones were revealed as new post-launch playable characters for Mario Tennis Aces, set for release on April and May 2019 respectively.
- Reggie Fils-Aimé, the president and Chief Operating Officer of Nintendo's North American branch, has announced his retirement for April 15, 2019, with Doug Bowser replacing him as president.
- Super Mario Maker 2 was announced during the February 13, 2019 Nintendo Direct, alongside a new multiplayer mode and a DLC chapter for the Nintendo Switch version of Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
