An Official Name for Something Else

There is a species called worms in "The Bird! The Bird!" This should really be an article on that. Stumpers! 17:37, 14 March 2008 (EDT)

That is a caterpillar, not a worm. No land-based species of worm is that color, has a....eye bump thing like that, or spots like that, but plenty of caterpillars do. Case in point. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:00, 19 February 2018 (EST)

"MarioWiki is also not a dictionary. We don't need articles on real world objects. I believe we should set a restriction for which of these generic articles can and can't be created. We should only allow articles on generic subjects that have a function which is different from the real world counterpart." - Knife (talk)

According to this article, worms:

Have cylindrical tube-like bodies.
Are a delicacy.

That's it, really. Specialized worms, such as the Donkey Kong 64 character and Worm Squirm, already have their own articles. There's literally nothing else here that makes this actually worth keeping, and not even The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! info is major enough in my opinion to be allowed to stay. So...shall we "gut" this article?

Parasitize it

  1. Toadette the Achiever (talk) Per proposal. (Also per Doc's comment above.)
  2. Niiue (talk) Per proposal and Doc.
  3. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) “I've never been so insulted in my whole life!” Indeed worm, indeed. Very tenuous article about a couple of 3-second-long cameos in two media, a caterpillar, and microgames apparently don't count for other species either.
  4. Yoshi the SSM (talk) The only notable worm I see on the page is the one in SMG, but this could be and is on the Gusty Garden Galaxy page. And I am in favor of moving the character here too. So, per proposal.
  5. Waluigi Time (talk) Per all.
  6. GrainedCargo192 (talk) Per all.
  7. Scrooge200 (talk) Per all.
  8. Doomhiker (talk) Per all.
  9. TheFlameChomp (talk) Per all.
  10. bwburke94 (talk) Per all.
  11. Owencrazyboy9 (talk) They're slimy, they ruin furniture and they're just plain gross. Per all.

Look for another host

  1. FanOfYoshi (talk) This worm needs to look for another host, maybe a section where they are actual enemies.

Comments

Additionally, "worm" is a very generic term that covers at least 4 different phyla (annelids, flatworms, nematodes, and rotifers, for example). Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:11, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Does it at least has an unrelated behavior in comparision to the generic subjects? If there is, should we clean it up? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 11:18, 11 December 2018 (EST)

The article says that worms appear as “enemies” sometimes. When? Scrooge200 (talk) 14:49, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Probably not generics, probably things like Ick Worm (which is also a caterpillar) and Creepy (which is a snake). Sworm is at least a worm, presumably. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 03:40, 12 December 2018 (EST)

All this being said, I'd support cleaning this of non-SMG content and moving the result to the conjectural "Caterpillar," though that's what Wigglers are called in the SMW TV show. Unless some official guide actually does erroneously call it a worm. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:02, 12 December 2018 (EST)

I wouldn't say the SMG Caterpillar is all that important either, plus it's already mentioned on Gusty Garden's page. --Waluigi's head icon in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 12:12, 12 December 2018 (EST)
Yeah, but given it's a creature that must be interacted with to complete the level, it's at least not a generic subject. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:55, 12 December 2018 (EST)
