Talk:Giant spear man
Thanks, that's a better name. Now my question is if there is proof that this character is called a "first mate?" -- Son of Suns (talk)
- I was going to name him this in the first place, but since he defected at the end of Wario Land II (and was no longer the first mate) I decided to name him after the main ingredient in syrup... And I'm not sure if he was the first mate, but the original author said he was the "right-hand man" which is the same thing as a first mate in a pirate crew. So you would have to ask them to clarify. 22:24, 22 December 2008 (EST)
- Well this works for now. I don't know much if anything about the Wario Land series so I couldn't say if this title is accurate or not. =) -- Son of Suns (talk)
- Yeah I only have the second (which I lost shortly after getting so I don't know anything) and third Wario Land so I don't know much either. =)
I'm fairly sure that the "First Mate" is called Giant Spearman within the game, so the article's original name is actually the official one. And is it "Spearman" or "Spear Man"? And since the latter article was moved from Pirate Goom, has Dangerous Duck to be renamed Duck of Death as well? --Grandy02 06:39, 23 December 2008 (EST)
- Yeah they have to be renamed. Is it really called Giant Spearman? 23:52, 23 December 2008 (EST)
- Yes, it is. But it is really written with a space character.

Role in the Ending[edit]
The article states that the Giant Spear Man follows Wario in the final ending of Wario Land II because he switched the side. But I don't think there is anything in the game that would confirm that. He could simply chase after Wario to get Syrup's treasure back (at the end, he goes into Wario's castle, just like Syrup's goons did in the opening). In my opinion, it isn't made clear what the Giant Spear Man's purpose is, and personally, it doesn't seem very likely to me that a henchman of Syrup just becomes Wario's "friend." --Grandy02 06:54, 17 December 2009 (EST)
- I know what you mean. The game doesn't give much evidence for whatever the Giant Spear Man's motives are during the end credits, so it's open for interpretation. You can remove the info if you want (then I have to remove the info from some of the WL2 articles I created too). -

- I would just offer both as possible endings, and state that the question is ambiguous. If there's no official statement on the subject, that's the best that can be done that avoids simply cutting out the issue entirely and leaving an incomplete article. Redstar 07:31, 17 December 2009 (EST)
