Artwork of Princess Peach for Mario Party: The Top 100
  • Since her debut in 1985, Princess Peach (pictured) has appeared in more games than any female character in video game history.
  • In Paper Mario, the Japanese characters on the Toad Town Dojo's billboard read "Way of the old man" in reference to the Master.
  • At the end of the Mario Kart 8 April 30 Nintendo Direct, when the Nintendo fan pulls out his "Things to do before I die" list to write "Buy Mario Kart 8", one of the other notes on the list is "Beat SMB2: The Lost Levels", which is a joke about how difficult the game is compared to other Mario games.
  • Wet-Dry World was used in a Got Milk? commercial in the late 1990s. Mario, who is unable to jump onto a platform in the first area, breaks through the screen, through a series of events winds up in a refrigerator, drinks some milk, becomes super-sized, and starts walking on the top of the level. However, the level shown in the commercial differs from the one in-game in that the sky is bright blue instead of dark.
