An early, Super Mario 64 Scuttle Bug.

Scuttle Bugs (also spelled Scuttlebugs) are round orange bugs in Super Mario 64 that act the same as Goombas; when in range they charge at Mario, and punching and stepping on their heads defeats them. They live in Hazy Maze Cave and outside the Ghost House. Getting coins by defeating them is really all they're good for.

New Super Mario Bros. Scuttle Bugs hanging on webs.

Scuttlebug reappears in New Super Mario Bros., hanging down from webs in World 4-1. He will repeatedly move up and down, and can prove to be useful in giving some extra height by jumping off of him. He also appeared in in World 8-4, where he will ceaselessly drop down from the top of the stage in pairs of two. He is not attached to webs, and will immediately drop onto the ground and give chase. Still, there is one attached to webs. This is the only game where there are unlimited Scuttlebugs. Ones with webs are in 4-1 and 8-4. One that give chase are only in 8-4.

The Colossal Scuttle Bug from Super Mario Galaxy: an alien Scuttle Bug?

A Boss from Super Mario Galaxy, conjecturally named Colossal Scuttle Bug, has stripes going horizontally across its body and wide eyes, resembling a Scuttle Bug. At the start of the battle in previews, it jumps and wiggles its legs (which also happen to be Scuttle Bug-like) in midair as Scuttle Bugs do when they are ready to attack, thus making this monstrosity (above) a possible giant, alien one.

He is not to be confused with the enemies Skeeter and Pider. Template:Insects Template:SM64 Characters Catergory: Sub-Species
