Valor Up

Valor Up is a special move used by enemies and bosses in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars that increases one's physical and magical defense. For Mario and his allies, this means the battle is about to get a lot harder and a lot longer. The animation for the move is a blue column of light that surrounds the caster. Many bosses will use it after losing a set amount of HP. When Jonathan Jones and Boomer use it, it causes their sprite to change color (Jones changes from blue to brown, while Boomer changes from red to blue). This skill is sometimes paired with Vigor Up, which increases attack power.
