I made my first contributation to the mario wiki here, the Life Overflow section of this. Please add to it, as I fear I may have left something out being new. --Kaleb12 01:06, 18 January 2010 (EST)Kaleb12

New possible glitch?

I discovered a new glitch in 1-1 involving tricks similar to wrong warp in 4-2. Backwards jumping into objects to push Mario to the very far right side of the screen, causing a very weird finish. Here's a link, you should consider watching this:

Minus World able on Virtual Console

I heard from videos that it is possible to go to the minus world on the virtual console. Why did you say that it wasn't? -Mario324

Because it is basically an emulation of the original. So all glitches work on the virtual consule. KartMaster (talk) 22:51, 4 September 2015 (EDT)

A Question

Could we put emulator glitches on that article such as the flagpole glitch? --Mario is waiting for his pasta. 17:26, 31 July 2011 (EDT)

Non, double listed glitches.

I've come to notice this page has some issues from the game that are labelled as glitches, for instance, the first one listed (Catch a power-up before it appears), is not not a glitch as you can do that in the following games from Super Mario Bros. The Lost Levels to, even, New Super Mario Bros Wii; also the GIF for that supposed "glitch" is from Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and not Super Mario Bros., both are different games, they just only use the same engine. And second off, the Jumping Damage Glitch and Magic Mushroom are exactly the same glitch with different results.

Over the flagpole?

Is this really a glitch? It's used in TLL, so it is probaly put in there on porpuse. 23:13, 25 March 2012 (EDT)

New glitch ?

I noticed a glitch in the Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels port for Super Mario Bros. Deluxe (it occured in 6-4) : When there is a path puzzle, and when you're on the good path, if you jump repeatedly, the game will think you're on the wrong path and you will hear the corresponding sound. Can someone confirm me this works on Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels and Super Mario Bros. ?

I don't think there are levels like that in the original, so shouldn't this be on here? --File:NSMBWIIEJr.png BowserJunior RULES! 12:51, 1 January 2013 (EST)
There are levels like this on Super Mario Bros., I don't remember the world but it's a castle level (World X-4)
Banon (talk · edits) 12:59, 1 January 2013 (EST)
It's World 4-4. I don't know if there are other levels like this.
Banon (talk · edits) 13:09, 1 January 2013 (EST)
Hmm...I'll check it out when I can.--File:NSMBWIIEJr.png BowserJunior RULES! 19:25, 1 January 2013 (EST)

I eventually checked, and I can confirm this glich works on the original game, except that there isn't the sound in the original game.

Small Fire Mario

Can somebody explain me how the game can display a sprite of Small Fire Mario? Does the sprite exist in the game? Or is it just "small mario sprite" + "fire mario colours" = "this"? I don't understand how this is possible. (I'm talking about this on the talk page because I think it would be interesting to add it in the article).
Banon (talk · edits) 12:03, 31 May 2013 (EDT)

By hacking through the game several years ago, I managed to find several sprites, none of them was Fire Mario nor Small Fire Mario nor Invincible Mario nor Invincible Small Mario. Recently (about two months ago), I hacked through it again to find that the game uses a different palette for Fire Mario and Invincible Mario after complicating the palette with Super Mario's sprite. I made my Fire Mario sprite. I think that describes that the game uses a palette swap of the Original Mario to make "Fire Mario" and by the same case: It uses a palette swap of the Original Small Mario to make "Small Fire Mario" --

Hands Up Glitch

I think there should be a page specificly for Super Mario Bros. Deluxe glitches, since the Hands Up glitch is only possible in smbdx, not in the other versions. It always confused me for the NES and SNES versions where it's impossible to perform such a glitch, unlike the GBC version. --Mariofan5000 (talk) 14:36, 18 July 2013 (EDT)

If there is only a few glitches (or just one), don't create a glitches page. Just create a new section on the SMBDX article.

Putting a glitch to good use

Should we add somewhere that the 'Small Fire Mario' glitch was featured in Bonus Stage 14 in NES Remix? I hope this isn't the wrong talkpage to suggest this. A scrapped item from Super Mario World. It's Flipthenote, here to help.

"Warning: Performing this/these act(s) may corrupt or damage your system permanently. "

This should be removed. It is physically impossible for game glitches to damage the system or the game. The very maximum damage that can be achieved by a game glitch of any sort is a corrupted save file. This is because the game's programming does not control the lower level system hardware (which lies in the domain of firmware). 174.112.21.159 17:20, 15 February 2014 (EST)

I reworded it to just say, "corrupt save files". Icon showing how many lives Mario has left. From Super Mario 64 DS. It's me, Mario! (Talk / Stalk) 17:22, 15 February 2014 (EST)

"Hit the Axe and Keep It There" is not a glitch!

It actually makes sense for the ax not to disappear since Bowser is already defeated with fireballs and there is no need to untie the bridge by slashing it with the ax - that's why it stays there, as well as the bridge. I suggest removing this "glitch" from the list. Xeoxer (talk) 15:39, 23 January 2015 (EST)

I suppose so, but the way the walls are structured makes it seem tricky to actually jump past the axe. But if the axe is never activated due to Mario's not touching it, then it's not a glitch. Oh sorry, I assumed the axe never vanishes when Bowser was defeated with fireballs, but I recently replayed the game and it disappears unless you touch the far right, so it's a bug after all. Xeoxer (talk) 13:12, 29 January 2015 (EST)

Jumping backwards

The minus world is accessed by jumping and colliding into a wall backwards. The backward long jump, enough said. Is it just me, or have Mario games not mastered backwards jumping?

What is this?

This is a strange sprite I got from the Spriter's Resource. Is it a glitch?

It might be the in-between sprite for when Super Mario is shrinking into Small Mario. However, I'm not totally sure of that.

Sure seems like an in between sprite. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:02, 16 December 2016 (EST)
