Dark Barribad

The Dark Barribad is an enemy from Super Paper Mario. It can be found in the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials. It is a subspecies of Barribad. It appears similar to, and may even be related to the Yux species from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. The Dark Barribad projects an impenetrable barrier around itself when Mario, Princess Peach, Bowser, or Luigi approaches, and shoots rings of energy at them. However, by flipping to 3D, the player can go around the barrier, switch to 2D, and defeat it.
